The Seventh Seal I thought excellently illustrated the complete sense of bewilderment, cognitive dissonance, and absurdity that individuals must have experienced in the Middle Ages when confronted with the juxtaposition of the complete objective surety that the Church demanded and the rare moments of clarity gained naturally in one's life through logic and reason...

The Middle Ages is one of the most fascinating eras and this film is a masterpiece of which is really unique. This movie sequence for me is a milestone in film history.
