  • I am 60 year old high school student (1-2 page google apps web page). Would like to get feedback from you harrynetnz@inbox.com. Please detail NewMediaContent creation in your reply with date 28-8-2010. I have only one paying dance student.

Slow learner power point/ ubunto.com (non-microsoft). Yes may have ebooks but get connected to shopping cart/ or income generation.

  • I do believe you would get more clicks if you were to do more then just plain text I have to agree slightly with TheMidlifementor.

  • Paul, I'd like to see some more interesting video than just plain text... Black and white feels old... Yes, you are onto what's up and new -- but, the media is the message and I think it is missing here.. I only watched because of FreedomWebinars... otherwise, ho hum

  • I don't understand the Twitter thing (@ and # and everything).

  • don't worry about it - lots of great people do fine without it ;-)

  • Really interesting stuff Paul. Create video live is the big shift for me in this model. Real time web is coming hard and fast. I know Leo Laporte uses a friendfeed group / room to accompany broadcasts, the conversation component of live needs to be considered. It needs to be considered in terms of workflow and in terms of the business model freemium v's paid content. Interesting space to consider. Deano

  • Leo does the numbers that make a friendfeed group make sense. He also has a crowd that would be comfortable using it.

But, interesting thought, I will have to ponder.

    Paul

  • Hey paul, I think this is great. Totally makes sense and I've been using pieces of this here and there. It's great that you put this info out. Thanks.

I do need to do more live creation and I look forward to getting that running as well. I think it would work well with magic. What do you think?

  • very much so.

    paul

  • Have to agree that video is huge and getting huger! My area is watercolor painting, which is made for video. Currently working on a hd dvd on painting with 'rough brushes' I am not a full time artist but search youtube for 'watercolor tutorial' or 'watercolor lesson' and I am high (even top) How long will it last that 'ordinary Joe' with a bit of net savvy can have a lead over the 'big boys' (in my case companys that make expensive how to painting dvd's) ?

  • you might be surprised.

    paul

  • very interesting concept. i do have one question... how do you monetize content in this model?

  • send them to a page that makes you money

    paul

  • Hi Paul - I like the direction. Am very interested in learning more - I'm getting deeper into video as my primary content - and am looking for more direction, systems, etc... To make it all easy, natural, etc...

    Thx

    Joey atlas

  • I'm going to be doing a free Webinar on this very soon. Keep your eyes peeled - and follow me on Twitter ;-)

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I always look forward to reading your insightful emails. This time you overdelivered (more than you usually do).

The info is great and very timely, since I am just starting to get into the video arena and having a lot of fun in the process!

Thanks again for keeping all of us updated on the latest Inernet happenings!

    Bettina from Chile

  • Thanks for dropping by!

    Paul

  • Paul,

This is right in line with my thoughts, but it seems like your model doesn't touch on the possibilities of live video, ie. involving customer participation. I would like to see more about your workflow, how it all gets setup & executed.

    Great work, thanks!

    Sean

  • i'll ponder the implications - thanks.

    paul

  • Paul,

I want to create "videos" just like this for my different web services. Are you using just "Keynote" and "Screenflow"? I have a MAC already and am used to creating videos of myself talking but would like to just have voiceovers with text on the screen like this. Thoughts?

    Mike

  • Yes, I am using a Mac with Keynote and Screenflow - but that doesn't matter at all. I'm pondering doing a series about how to do this for free.

    Paul

  • Paul,

Great stuff. It's hard to get into the mindset of "video first" and creating content FROM that video and not working the other way around. I've been around for a while and got used to banging out text first. You're absolutely right, though. Video is SO much easier to do first.

    Thanks!! :o)

  • and - not only is it easier - but since it will REACH THE MOST PEOPLE - don't we want to start there?

    Paul

  • I think Paul brings up some good points and I feel He is just letting us know there is more out there and has been for a while. Some like me are just a little slow about coming up to speed. I Just need a few nudges from time to time . Ok call them wake up calls !! LOL either way thanks Paul .

  • glad i can help ;-)

    p

  • Hi Paul,

As always I respect your advice as one of my few trusted mentors, and I know you've been urging me to get with the video program for awhile. The case is compelling and I'll get there, but remember you're comfortable w/video production and many of us aren't but would like to be. What we need is a step-by-step on the PC and Mac side for those of us who are tech challenged. After all I learned to podcast from you, so can you do the same for video? Not just the strategy but the tech

  • We're going to doing that in the NMIC ;-)

    P

  • Paul, this is so valuable. I agree 100%. And the fact is, content creation is not that difficult anymore. Virtually anyone can create video content with about $100 in tools and a few hours of studying tutorials on the web. Thanks for you great insights as always! You are such a thought leader and authority and you are so generous in the sharing of your insights. Best, Cindy

  • Now - go out there an create some videos!

    Paul

  • "I don't feel comfortable creating videos." "Too technical." "I'm not an expert filmmaker." "I like watching videos, but making them is different." "My voice/face doesn't do well on video." "The video equipment is too expensive."

These and other unspoken objections probably need to be: 1. Brought out into the open. 2. Properly addressed.

If a lot of folks have not crossed from web 1.0 to 2.0, then there are plenty who need to be led across the chasm between watching video and creating it.

  • Great points - I'll be addressing them soon.

    Paul

  • Great Content as usual Paul, I appreciate what you do. Keep it coming please ~ Zeb

  • From a video content creation such as yourself - kind words indeed Zeb.

    Paul

  • Paul

Your case is convincing. But I think there needs to be consideration of users not familiar/comfortable with these multi-delivery methods. If you take the view that early adopters ditctate the delivery then the case for video is clear. If the target market is not currently adopting these new delivery methods then we are left with a choice of hoping they catch up through pier pressure, trying to educate in the ways of 2,0, waiting until they adapt or sticking with existing medium's.

  • But you see - here's the great part - they DON'T NEED TO BE FAMILIAR with multiple reception options - just a single reception option. We're in charge of getting these things down as many options/channels as possible.

    Paul

  • I created a video slide show and my page soared to a 15% conversion of people taking a 200 question personality test (to help people make better hiring decisions).

The challenge was putting together a proper slide show, recording it, exporting it, converting it to Flash, getting it to display properly on my site.

If there were adequate tutorials (Mac or PC) that would simplify these steps, these tutorials would be PRICELESS. I spent days putting mine together and I would've loved guidance.

  • Keep your eyes peeled to this space ;-)

    Paul

  • staying peeled...

  • Hi Paul,

Yes, I think the UStream idea is hip.

Just the other day I watched a live UStream of David Wolfe's launch and it was like a party with lots of guests and excitement and activity...fun!

I think people do like to be where the live events are. It's exciting and adds to the social proof.

  • exactly - and if we build this the right way, we can record it all and let people catch it delayed - for those who didn't get it live.

    paul

  • Paul

This is soooo weird - just decided today (and after podcast secrets 2009) that I have to get get content up ON YOUTUBE... going to keep it simple and get it up and running... I think we livin in a visual world...

  • we are - whether we like it or not.

    paul

  • I'm in agreement with everyone else. Paul you have your finger on the pulse of the Web and I appreciate you sharing your observations. I appreciated the style of this presentation, because you can just listen to the audio and not really miss anything that is on the screen. So often you have to be glued to the screen to see the charts or pictures and that makes it difficult.

I know you did it that way on purpose so that you can ultimately reach a larger audience.

Thank you for opening our eyes

  • thanks for the kind words

    paul

  • I think you are on point, I am new to the internet marketing game and this is now and the future. I have found a software that will distribute podcast, videos and the such. We are culture of either now or on my time. Great stuff!

  • thanks.

    paul

  • This is simply fabulous! I sent you a tweet. I totally agree with you by the way. I'm tweaking a presentation as well (in between articles) so I can put it on YouTube. I honestly can't think of anything I would have done differently.

  • wow. thanks.

    paul

  • Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about in this video. I'm just a humble indie filmmaker. But I'm also a researcher! I will send this to our web developer and see what he thinks. Thank you for sharing it with me!

  • since you're a filmaker - you're already ahead of the game. good luck!

    p

  • Great Presentation.Enjoyed it

  • thanks. anything you'd do differently?

  • Brother Paul - Insightful and deadly accurate, as always. Multi-Media will finally be defined by what people consume via the interwebs. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. :)

  • I response from AndyJ - I'm honored sir.

    P

  • Paul your audio was better than the actual screencast. :)

  • I got a face for radio buddy.

    P

  • and, don't forget - if i did this as audio - just a few places to post it.

because it's video - my options are MUCh bigger.

    p

  • I completely agree, I think this distribution model is amazing, in fact I'm working on a screencast right now, for YouTube distribution.... :)

  • post it here in the comments so others can take a look at it.

    paul

  • I liked it and I mostly listened via audio while I did some other work. Very interested in learning more as I am teaching a class to a group of REALTORs tomorrow about how to bring social media into their business and do it properly. I'm no expert, just a passionate user and if I can train professionals to do it the way I want and most of my friends want, all the better.

  • twas done that way on purpose.

    p

  • Thanks for this Paul, I think this model is just what I'm looking for, short quick screencasts... I'll use Podcasts for longer form items... great way to consume...

  • notice - the audio was fine as well ;-)

    p

  • This is a brilliant example of how things are changing. And if you ask me, it's long overdue. Paul has hit the nail on the head and shows once again why he is a leader.

From slideshow presentations to twitter to modern social networks the way we as a species, not just a society interact with and consume information is changing.

Without sounding harsh, people and businesses need to evolve or die.

  • well said.

    paul

  • Brilliant!

    ~JP

  • thanks jul. you're a big part of this. thanks for showing me the "way" ;-).

  • Not only do I agree with you Paul, I think this New Media Content Creation Model 2.0 is necessary for entrepreneurs and businesses to take their business online to the next level.

I agree we have to provide our content in a 2.0 style to give our followers the ability to consume our content in their terms and how they want to embrace it!

Thanks for the great content Paul. In fact I watched this video from my iPhone and commented here on my PC, a perfect example.

  • nice. would you have listened if it was just an audio - be honest?

    paul
