What the fuck is wrong with everyone, this is a great cover. With 10cc you have someone who still is in love, but they don't want to admit it. While in this version you have someone who really isn't in love, maybe never was. So you have the same song, but two completely different feelings.
Long ago, I bought Tori's debut EP because I liked her version of Smell's like Teen Spirit, Angie, and Thank You. In the years that followed I felt that most of her stuff was more performance art than actual music. This version of I'm Not in Love slides comfortably into that category for me. It might appeal to others, but it profoundly disappoints me. She has so much obvious talent but her work either goes bat-shit crazy over the top or painfully crawls to a dismal finish.
The only thing I like about this is that there is no live video of her, so I don't have to vomit after watching her f**k a piano bench. I truly dislike this singer for her freaky stage presence -not sexy -and her affected over-singing style; Tori should learn something from Beth Gibbons, who has a comparable style. I just came here to hear how Tori remade this awesome, classic song. Well, those who grew up with the original will likely tell you this sucks -yes, I can sing it better my damn self.
i love the interest Neil Gaiman has in Tori and how he writes her into his books :) It's fantastic. His sleeve notes for this album was great. Especially this song.
this is the song that worked the most out of all the SLG singles. The original a guy is trying to convince himself that's he not in love after the girl dumped him. She is the girl dumping by saying she's not in love. Not my favorite song on the album, but this one really got the point across.
sounds likes beth gibbons [portishead]. that's actually a compliment. i love tori [and portishead for that matter]. it's nice and dark and it scratches an itch i couldn't reach for a very long time.
Only one comment? Damn this song deserves more than that!! I still will always love the original by 10cc better but this is my second favorite version. Tori Amos can never make a bad remake of a song! Just like the Love Song by the cure... oh I think I will listen to that next!

I haven't heard the Hyndes or Haven version, but I love the original, and I think this is an interesting version of it. I like the minimalism.
