Awesome! I use to always cut the eqs but never boost them, seemed to sound bad most of the time, but now i see if your gonna boost one side, cut the same amount more or less on the other, to balance out the mix. You know I tell everyone that your my main mentor for DJing, and proud to say that. No shame from learning from one of the best right?
if a dj mixer has high, mid , low and gain is this ok to mix or i need a one which has bass ? i really need help because i want to buy a dj mixer which is not expensive and i found one with this options ... am looking forward to here from you thnx alot
Hey i have been DJing for a couple of months now, learned everything from scratch from this man, he is mint and the best dj tutor by far on the internet, please look on my channel and tell me what you think of my mini mix's, all feedback welcome as it will help me improve cheers
great stuff..i just have a question. i have a djm 600 and i tend to use the EFX alot, but to do that you need the master volume up correct? well i do that and when i turn the EFX on the volume increases and it is very noticeable, what should i do to make it smoother??
just recently came across your vids as i pulled my turntables out of the garage from over 10 yrs ago! They have been a huge help as i get reaquainted with mixing. Keep it up!!
@SulekNH well what i think is that he ment in the other video not to use the high, mid and low to gain volume! because it ruins the soundquality. If you are mixing you can ofcours raise one or more of those buttons. At least that 's what i've learned.
man, u r so cool, u know what, since 2007 i always watching and practicing ur tips, and now i got resident dj in one of the big company in the world, might u know. practise and enjoy.
hello, can someone explain me if there's a huge difference among using the EQs and the filter effects while mixing two songs?
i normally use the EQs or drop tunes, and the effects i sometimes use them to put some emphasis in certain parts of the songs, but as i keep practicing, i'd like to know if you guys use the filters for mixing too.
Right explanation, as allways!!I discovered that sometimes instead of mixing with accappellas, you can turn bass and treble almost off, and increase mid...this way you will be like mixing with an accappella, but it was a normal song!!Nice!!
One question: how to know (when 2 songs are beatmatched) which song is getting off if both have a similar kick&snare??? Any tips?? Thanks in advance
When you cue up the track to mix in you have to adjust it either up or down in speed to get it beatmatched. I always slow it down below the track playing and then bring the pitch up till it's in beat, if it's going slightly off during the mix then it will more than likely need speeded up.
Other than that it's just listening and practise but not too many tracks have very similar features that you wouldn't be able to tell which is which.
hmm i'm not so sure about this, he is playing two basslines together, most of the times that does not sound well, and it's making the master in the red.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
too much words, too much words. I'm trying to listen but I need to fast forward each sentence to the point. Good stuff is being told here, but you're using 15 words to say "and now press play" (that is just an example and not actually in the video).
eq mixing is ok for longer intro songs the more electronic stuff techno etc. its completley distroys the chance of a fairly quick mix unless you are willing to work the a single channel at a time backing off the low.
you need to EQ for the situation, if its a quick mix then a straight forward 'bass swap' . sounds awful when you have 2 channels running with all the EQ's @ 12. Instantly double the volume on the master
thanx its helped me understand the eq's more, i use the mixer for vocals and this has really helped... sometimes plain talking is more understandable than reading any book or manual... thanx m8t!!!
on my girl friend user just explain the user name. have been working on eq mixing for a while now but my mixer isnt smooth on the eq knobs, they do nothing from 12 o clok to 9 o clock then do everything there after. this makes very hard. Do the DJM mixers have a more steady ajustment on the eq? just wondering wheather the DJM range will be the right move for an upgrade?
It' depends on what style of music your mixing, if your level is perfect on deck 1, and a bit lower on deck 2, then it's perfect to use the eq, or if your mixing vocals, i use the eq to accentuate the mid and hi range, the eq is a tool, use it where you see it fit. On the DJM 800 however i often use the Colour fx instead. On DJM 909 the EQ is overall the best, even if you can run some filtersweeps through the fx. Deejaying is an artform, don't spoil it.
In Hard Dance during a straight forward mix i tend to bring the incoming track is With low - about 8oclock, with the High at 10.. Depending on vocals/melody also slacken out the mid. as the mix is flowing swap the high out first - stops a flange effect on the top end, then at the correct point in the track structure 'bass swap' to the incoming track, bring the new track in to 12oclock, and the old to about 8 as a rule.. Sounds great for proper impact mixing.
Great tutorial aswell, and really made me go to my musicroom and start working :) !
This video also pointed me at a question; when having both tunes playing together (when I do it, dough) sounds very nice. But..Ofcourse I want to go from left track to right one, and then suddenly it seem to sound 'empty'. Can you make such a video with only track 1 - both in the mix - only track 2, so the complete transition?
DJT May I be the first to wish you a happy new year, good vid I love doing the phasing effect, A question for everybody you may want do do vlog on Q. Do you play christmas songs at a New Years Eve Gig?

what's a quick-fix solution if you end up getting frequencies in the red zone on the mixer?
streaker9 1 year ago
@streaker9 dont think of djing using "quick fixes", fade EVERYTHING. You just lower the correct high/mid/low down or adjust the gain a little
