I wonder where Vai got his inspiration ?!?!

  • Your music will light the Universe for ever,RIP!

  • is this piece on some of the shut up n play yer guitar trilogy by any chance:

  • He used to be nice boy, he used to cut the grass. He was a very nice boy. I have children SLEEPING in here. turn that down! Dont you boys know any *nice* songs? Swat team 4 move in...

FRANK ZAPPA EL MAS GRANDE GENIO DE LA HISTORIA DE LA MUSICA.

FRANK ZAPPA THE GREATEST GENIUS OF THE HISTORY OF MUSIC.

  • arthur barrow mon bassiste prefere!! c est beau!!! zappa savais etre genereux avec son public bravo!!

  • I thank God, YouTube, and Timmo1782 for leaving me in a 'wow' state after listening to this track. I'm really enjoying it and speechless after listening to it. F.Zappa is one of a kind. He and his band define those depths of music where only the strong at heart can survive/excel.

  • I love to say "told ya"

  • I think this is the live performance that became "He Used to Cut the Grass." It's funny how on this Frank channels some really old, nasty blues guitar playing, like T-Bone Walker, where T-Bone wanted the guitar to sound as raw and abrasive as possible. He definitely stayed true to his roots.

  • @DouglasWatts That is correct regarding the "He used to cut the grass". He has quite a few different names for it apparently, several versions out there. A lot of the guitar tracks including the one you mentioned from Joe's Garage were taken from live performances and overdubbed with new backing in odd time signatures that he wrote out for the band in the studio. I can't think of which album but the original "He Used to Cut the Grass" live performance can be found.

  • His music always gives me a warm feeling. like a big cucoon wrapped around me made of fluffy silk. who knows why? old lamps and red lights lots of red lights :)

  • vinnie is the man

  • Damn! What a FINE musician and entertainer!!!!!

  • Haven't heard this one... nice man nice, I like it!!!

  • This one was done as an intro to the concert, but later he made it the guitar solo for a later version of Easy Meat and eventually The 3rd Movement of Sinister Footwear

  • Moraisito Ametista - The best...

  • super....

  • Little bit of "Wet T-Shirt Nite" towards the end there.

  • @zzzxxyy home... of the tits

  • Why are there so few videos of Vinnie C. playing with FZ?

  • persona non grata..

  • It's a cracker!! Close your eyes and dive into another dimension. Frank was, is, and always will be. THE BEST!!!!! Blow yer harmonica in heavin son..

  • FKNG BRILLIANT RIP FRANK

  • afuckingmazing.

  • Unique!!!

    R.I.P. mister Zappa

  • Good stuff.

  • arthur barrow plus vinnie grande periode pour zappa

  • You get to really hear Arthur Barrow in this one too. Frank's soloing was at its best with Vinnie and Arthur I think.

  • You are absolutely correct.

    Perfect little organisms.

  • fucking oath!!!..''.shut up n' play yer guitars'' primary rhythm section..who could argue?..its proly one of his most defining records..if thats possible?

  • this shit is good

  • At 1:24 - 2:00 sounds as if Steve Vai may have pulled a little bit of Franks riffs and put a bit of it in his song, "I know you are here". Check it out, I think you guys may agree. Not saying it's exact but, very similar.

  • Spectacular.

  • I love italian titles of Zappa's song XD

  • That's latin

  • It's really latin, thumbs down/up won't change it guys, I'm sorry.

  • this was back when terry bozzio still "played" the drums...

  • That;s not Bozzio-- it's Vinnie Colaiuta.

  • no wonder it sounds so good...vinnie&virgil my 2 favorites =)

  • that pic with frank holding the pencil is awesome!!!

  • persona graditissima!

  • I also was introduced to Zappa at age 14 with Joe's Garage! Tremendous musical mind named Frank RIP.

  • con brio maestro!

  • This is a live version of "He used to cut the grass" from Joe's Garage

  • Very, very nice riffs and vibe I get from this music in which I listened to. RIP-FZ

  • I didn't know Colaiuta played with Zappa. He always had the bests around him.

  • colaiuta is even mentioned in the final chorous of the song "catholic girls" by zappa

  • That just sounds amazing! Frank & Vinnie are making me cry here.

  • yes....

  • Looks and sounds like the best band I've never seen in my life....

  • remember that "persona non grata" is an italian phrase

  • actually the right italian for "unwanted person" is "persona non gradita". "persona non grata" means "ungrateful person"

  • Wrong. "Persona non grata" is latin (lingua latina) and means the same thing as "persona non gradita" in italian.

  • I see, did not realize it was latin, I'm italian but don't speak it

  • FZ continued throughout his varied career, to raise the bar of exellence with his "air sculptures" - Fantastic!

  • @tomtiddler "air sculpures", great image!

  • I think the shot before the last one could be from Stonybrook long Island. I saw him there and he had the same shirt on. But maybe he just had the same shirt on. I'm pretty sure it was'nt a rubber shirt! see The Merry Franksterz on youtube

  • What does it mean "persona non Grata"? Is it the title of a FZ's song?

  • A person that is not welcome, i.e., not recognized. In diplomatic instances, it usually means expulsion, as well. As far as FZ goes, it is just a title for one of his instrumental vamps/constructions over which he improvised. And this is a good one...

  • Is this on any album that anyone knows of? Terrific solo - again.............!

  • Persona non Grata means "A unwelcome Person,"

mainly used in politics. Don't forget that Frank Zappa was a cultural attaché in Hungary.

  • "unwanted person"

  • Like a communist in the Mccarthy-era
