They are infrared based NVG's. Cheap yes, but they do work.

To increase the performance you can get a high powered LED flashlight and replace the LED's inside with some IR LED's and you will be able to see much more.

Yes, a good pair of night vision goggles that can see 1/4 mile will cost a chunk, but cheap ones are available.

The Eyeclops night vision goggles are working night vision goggles for under $100. I read reviews on that and they work but they have limited range(30ft). So look that up, these are probably about the same or a little better than those.

the reason the toy company who also make eyeclops can sell these nvg's for $100 is because theyre going to be selling so many units, its called bulk selling. usually they might sell a couple of thousand units a year, whereas with modern warfare 2 theyre guna sell a couple of hundred thousand, so they will still be making a profit. the money they will make from selling all those units will be way more than the cost to produce them
