I know this kid is a good rider and will most likely take very good care of his pony- I just want to say that most kids his age aren't ready for the responsibility and get horses anyway. I've always wanted a horse and have ridden for about two years or so. I even saw a vid of a 7 yr old getting a horse who wasnt broke to ride. I really want a horse but my parents cant afford it :( anyway, everybody who really wants a horse cant have one but ppl who dont have an opinion do :( lifes never fair. :(
@countryiceskater I agree many children do get ponies the do not deserve. and I for one had to work my butt off to get to where I am now as a rider. But Gabriel is such an awsome little horseman. He loves his ponies. Looks after them and rides them great. He even goes hunting now! :)

haha i have expirences around horses but when i got my horse for my b-day i like screamed like crazy!
the pony im talking about we were gonna get her before my birthday about a year before and then her owners were selling her again and my parents told me that someone had bought her again before we could get the pony and then on my b-day we had a trailer coming up the driveway with my pony :P
i know someone whos parents bought them a horse for there christmas. they coulden't look after it so they had to hire someone to look after it! they haden't ever sat on a horse so i ride it for her.
As long as he knows how to look after his pony and ride him, I think it's fine for a 6 year old to have a pony! What I hate is when parents buy their kids who have never even sat on a horse before their own horse, when so many people just like me have been around horses for so long and don't have our own ponies.
of course he does. he has been riding for ages. he can jump, he hacks on his pony with other people on like 16.2hh horses and he even goes hunting. he is a fab rider. yeah it does annoy me when people who dont have a clue get em. i dont have my own either but i think gabriel proper deserved it.
oh i know don't it drive you mad when people have ponies that are amazing or whatever and they can't ride but get all the credit i try my but off and only barely get placed and stuff hope he looks after blue well :) wonder what he got this year . . . lol :P

@hahaustinklikebanana My two year old will be getting her first pony in January, she knows exactly what muck out is and has been stuck on my 28 year old horse for the past 18months learning to ride. I myself had to wait until i had a full time job and could afford it so why shouldn't you. My girl won't get a bigger horse until she can pay it's keep and maintenance (ie not until she is 18 and gets a full time job).

I think it's brilliant that he has a pony and can ride it-unlike a girl I know who has two, and hasn't ever riddden before. at my barn there is a 3 yr old boy who rides. He doesnt have a pony but ride a barn pony. He may have one someday. I think it is awesome that you son has the chance at a young age to be around horses and to beable to have one! And i agree if he is a good rider then why not! Your pony is very cute by the way!!
well yeah he is tiny he has to start somewhere. he has already had to sell toffee for other reasons but he has a new 12hh called blue. you cant expect him to ride something bigger than that even if he could
@shylillover1 well thats the whole point you know. Kids will always outgrow their ponies and move on to something bigger and better for them. It would be stupid and down right dangerous to buy a horse of 15hh - 16hh for a little boy of his age and height. They would probably loose confidence from falling from such a height.

I dont actually have a pony. I loan 2 instead of having lessons. I pay £20 a week but also help out with the yard and that. I wish i could have my own more than anything. Im saving up though XD. 13hh. and the one at 12 secs is 16.3hh so he is obv off to look small next to him
