@DoubleNobelium Aragorn was too affected by the ring, at the battle of Amon Hen, when he was telling Frodo to go on, he looked into the ring the same Boromir did and looked as if he wanted it as well, but he shook it off.
@DoubleNobelium The Ring affects everyone, it just depends on how long it takes. Some people like Aragon, Faramir, and Sam have enough willpower to resist the Ring's temptations though. The only being that is not affected by the Ring is Tom Bombadil
@DoubleNobelium Thats kind of a mystery. Tolkein was very vague about him, he's described as being the "Eldest" and Tom himself said that he saw "the first raindrop and the first acorn" and was around even before Morgoth. But as to what he is, Tolkein didn't directly say. All we know is that he's not human, he's not even a mortal being he's more like a spirit.
@TheManMostMysterious he could be a Valar in disguise. he said he was around before "the darkness came" which doesnt necisserily mean that it was before Melkor existed, it could mean before he fell from grace, so he could also be a Maia of great power as well... possibly strong enough to challenge Sauron?
@DoubleNobelium because Aragorn is not a lesser man. his blood is not as diluted as Boromir's and he is more closely related to the men of Numenor. and it is said that Faramir had similar traits to the Numenorians of old, which is partly why Denethor hated him. he saw him as a threat, kinda like having a kid that looks mexican right before you lose your job to one lol
The scene with the ring and Boromir is just great in this scene is clearly one of the true villain of the ring. And Boromir sees the ring as a solution to the plight of Gondor, but he also knows that everything that can be created to accomplish with the ring or is transformed into evil. The battle between good and evil in the soul of each person, which is shown fantastic.
@schwarzfalk Yes I agree with you, the music is very important in this scene. The same chorus can be heard as Aragorn and Faramir, the Chace have to take the ring ansich, just when the temptation is always great.
@derletztehalbling i prefer the extended edition of the 2nd movie, with Faramir''s flashback. it shows that Boromir isnt the powerhungry asshole hes made out to be in the theatrical version and only wants to do whats best for his people. it's Denethor whos the real asshole
@nastrael Yes, Denethor sees the ring as a solution to the bad situation of Gondor and Boromir shares this view with his father. In the scene in the two towers to Boromir to Rivendell only refuses to go (as opposed to book). I'll give you the right but Faramir and Boromir have suffered from her father.
I love how immediately obvious it is that this was really filmed on a snowy mountain side. Effects can look very convincing, until you see the real thing blasting the effects into oblivion...
@nastrael I was referring to the first minute and a half, which was filmed above a ski piste in the Remarkables mountain range. Only the second half of the scene, with the blizzard and the avalanche, was filmed inside (and it shows).
@nastrael Boy you are a stubborn know-it-all, aren't you? This is a quote from Peter Jackson on the DVD commentary track for this very scene: "This was a sequence that was shot on a mountain top near Mount Aspiring. It was a real, very high, remote mountain, and the helicopters flew us in, dropped us of, and then they went off to park on the other side of the hill."
But I'm sure that you know better than Peter Jackson himself because you "have seen the footage"?
@CaptainChaos sorry, read your comment wrong. your correct the first minute and a half was filmed on a mountain...the second half was in a studeo, my bad, tell your good friend Peter im sorry and he has my deepest appologies :)
The moment right after Saruman asks "where then will you go?" up until the actual fall of the cliffside snow, is one of my favourite scenes not just in this film, but in general. So perfectly paced with dialogue, sound mixing, the masterful cinematography and of course the stunningly fantastic music.
Hahahahahaha, "LET THE RING BEARER DECIDE"
i.e. I am not taking credit for shit.
