I compleateley agree through and through except for the devil may cry series, puting style into effective attacks worked for the first time in history with that series.

I believe the reviewers of IGN et al justify the high scores they give to merely "competent" games by saying it's only a measure of how competent a game is, and the "meat" is the text review part. It's bullshit of course, there's a reason no one is coercing them to give excessively positive text reviews with their excessively positive scores, and there's a reason they don't advertise this supposed disclaimer anywhere except in their own imaginations.
And Resident Evil: Operatin Raccoon City is clearly another Gears of Wat clone like mass effect. They seem to be doing what Dead Space 2 accomplished...NOT BEING FUCKING SCARY and more gory. What do any of you guys think about the new Silent Hill game coming out?

@kea919306 I never really thought RE:4 was all that good to be honest. I don't see what the fuck the Las Plagas had to do with the outbreak of the T and G virus in AMERICA. The story had little to no relevancy to the series whatsoever. It just had Leon Kennedy in it.
I am just HOPING that they do away with RTE's and bring back the feel and story of the original series without making it feel like a slow paced crab shoot. The puzzles were always fun in the old games, not too easy... I miss them.

4. I don't see anything wrong with a game being ported to another console. I never owned a gamecube, because most of the games on it are rubbish, so why should I not be able to experience one of the best games ever made, just because I don't have that console?
In many ways, the game represented the contrast in the richer and poorer parts of Africa. Tricell would symbolise the advancement of corporations and how they affect the other poorer people. How can you even be sure that there aren't people in Africa that stil live in huts in some parts? Reservoir Dogs is a film that has racism in it, but noone says anything about that(nor should they because it's only a film, just like RE 5 is just a fucking game).
1. Resident Evil was never a good survival horror. Even the first Resident Evil was vastly inferior to Silent Hill in the scares department. Al RE 4 did was concentrate more on what the series was good at - visceral combat. It was a masterpiece of gaming as a result.
2. Resident Evil 5 is definitely not racist. It may have been a bit stereotypical of the presentation of *some* African people, but that's not the same as being racist.
I did not like residentevil 4 & 5, have them just dislike them strongly. Their last good residentevil game for me atleast was the rail shooters on the wii (house of the dead is better though)& residentevil outbreak games. The outbreak games required teamwork + strategy to win a online game. Often I found myself being the only one left alive, because it was co-op survival horror and well I was good at the whole survival part.
Aww you didn't like Vanquish? Seriously I thought that was probably the best TPS I've ever played gameplay wise. Storywise yeah it sucked. It ended on a cliffhanger which was wierd since Platinum Games only makes new IPs and the characters weren't that good but at least it was fun. Well everyone has opinions.

I really don't see the big deal with not being able to move and shoot. The truth is it is very difficult to shoot while moving and being in any way accurate.
The story behind RE4 on the PS2 doesn't really surprise me. After all, Capcom disbanded Clover right after Okami came out. They have a history of not giving a shit about their employees.

@Caparzoshow Actually Shenmue did start QTE. It's just that Shenmue was a sleeper hit where at God Of War and RE4 ridiculously popular. In fact God Of War doesn't use QTE to it's true context. It was moreover for finishing moves where RE4 and Shenmue had it in cutscenes. The essence of QTE is when it's put in cutscenes and if you fail you have to start from the beginning of said cutscene. Mashing the same buttons that you will have memorized for finishers is easycakes.
@Nightmaresins that is what im saying, shenmue didnt start the trend of QTEs because was a sleeper hit, so nobody paid attention to him...., it was by the time R4 came out, where developers realise that can exploit the shit out of this stupid feature....
Besides QTEs existed long before shenmue, (in the times of the sega cd as far as i know)
Definitely the worst Resident Evil hands down. I haven't even played the other Resident Evil games, but I've heard nothing but good things about them with the exception of the spin offs. This game was only difficult because you had to stand still and shoot and whatsherface was shitty as A.I. Otherwise ammo and health was common and convienent, taking the true challenge out of the previous Resident Evil games.

The original story was exactly that. ORIGINAL. No other game series has even touched the depth and possibilities that can come from the T and G virus storyline. Hell the entire RE series only took place over a short period of time in a couple places. T and G virus have infinate possibilities for stories. I like the movies. >.>

@kea919306 He is the guy behind the scenes. Yes. But I don't see how being seen in a 30 second cinamatic every few games counts as being a Primary Antagonist. Every game had Antagonists in them that showed up 1000% more in screen time and story. The only games he really gets talked about alot are Zero and 5. I wouldn't say that zombies are the main threats, i would say more along the lines of Tyrant, Nemesis, Saddler ect... Antagonists that actually show up for more then 30 seconds a game.

I never liked Resident Evil 5 (Or BioHazard 5 if people prefer) or the series in general. It did seem odd that the game took a huge downward turn though from what some of the fans were saying though I can only go off of what I heard.
And if Final Fantasy XIII can get almost perfect scores, then anything that is unoriginal will get good scores for the most part and anything original will be hated on harder than anything because it tries to NOT use quicktime events or other stupid cliches.

@kea919306 I never really thought RE:4 was all that good to be honest. I don't see what the fuck the Las Plagas had to do with the outbreak of the T and G virus in AMERICA. The story had little to no relevancy to the series whatsoever. It just had Leon Kennedy in it.
I am just HOPING that they do away with RTE's and bring back the feel and story of the original series without making it feel like a slow paced crab shoot. The puzzles were always fun in the old games, not too easy... I miss them.

In many ways, the game represented the contrast in the richer and poorer parts of Africa. Tricell would symbolise the advancement of corporations and how they affect the other poorer people. How can you even be sure that there aren't people in Africa that stil live in huts in some parts? Reservoir Dogs is a film that has racism in it, but noone says anything about that(nor should they because it's only a film, just like RE 5 is just a fucking game).

I have 4 points of contention with this review
1. Resident Evil was never a good survival horror. Even the first Resident Evil was vastly inferior to Silent Hill in the scares department. Al RE 4 did was concentrate more on what the series was good at - visceral combat. It was a masterpiece of gaming as a result.
2. Resident Evil 5 is definitely not racist. It may have been a bit stereotypical of the presentation of *some* African people, but that's not the same as being racist.

I did not like residentevil 4 & 5, have them just dislike them strongly. Their last good residentevil game for me atleast was the rail shooters on the wii (house of the dead is better though)& residentevil outbreak games. The outbreak games required teamwork + strategy to win a online game. Often I found myself being the only one left alive, because it was co-op survival horror and well I was good at the whole survival part.

It ended on a cliffhanger which was wierd since Platinum Games only makes new IPs and the characters weren't that good but at least it was fun. Well everyone has opinions.

@Caparzoshow Actually Shenmue did start QTE. It's just that Shenmue was a sleeper hit where at God Of War and RE4 ridiculously popular. In fact God Of War doesn't use QTE to it's true context. It was moreover for finishing moves where RE4 and Shenmue had it in cutscenes. The essence of QTE is when it's put in cutscenes and if you fail you have to start from the beginning of said cutscene. Mashing the same buttons that you will have memorized for finishers is easycakes.

Definitely the worst Resident Evil hands down. I haven't even played the other Resident Evil games, but I've heard nothing but good things about them with the exception of the spin offs. This game was only difficult because you had to stand still and shoot and whatsherface was shitty as A.I. Otherwise ammo and health was common and convienent, taking the true challenge out of the previous Resident Evil games.

The only thing I give credit to RE5 for is the fact that I enjoyed playing online with people. Instead of being fucking angry like on CoD: Cock Block (Black Ops) (Broke Ops). That's how online play should be: fun and entertaining not ridiculous and upsetting from getting shot 600 ft away behind a wall with a pistol because the wall was slightly glitched where you can see the slightest crack of someone's head.

Sure the controls were a little bit odd but i got used to them very quickly. Alternate ending are put in a shit ton of games. What is wrong with replayability? Do you enjoy buying games for $60 beating a game in a matter of 10 hours and then selling it back to Gamestop for $5 a day later when you could have rented it for $5.

@kea919306 He is the guy behind the scenes. Yes. But I don't see how being seen in a 30 second cinamatic every few games counts as being a Primary Antagonist. Every game had Antagonists in them that showed up 1000% more in screen time and story. The only games he really gets talked about alot are Zero and 5. I wouldn't say that zombies are the main threats, i would say more along the lines of Tyrant, Nemesis, Saddler ect... Antagonists that actually show up for more then 30 seconds a game.

I never liked Resident Evil 5 (Or BioHazard 5 if people prefer) or the series in general. It did seem odd that the game took a huge downward turn though from what some of the fans were saying though I can only go off of what I heard.
And if Final Fantasy XIII can get almost perfect scores, then anything that is unoriginal will get good scores for the most part and anything original will be hated on harder than anything because it tries to NOT use quicktime events or other stupid cliches.
