  • Burning biomass produces carbon dioxide, which in turn is used to produce more biomass..

  • how do you get rid of the tar in the gas that you are producing?

  • we want to inform the best refractory for gassifier hearths is Thermbond chemical bond refractory it demonstrates high resistance to hydrocarbons, thermal shock resistant and high physical properties at ambient after setting. Also Thermbond can be thermally cycled and heated faster than other castables, provides a permanent rapid repair to existing fired cleaned refractory cutting down maintenance costs.

  • hey Rod.. You have excitement and that means something

  • All please watch my video of a custom made gasifier there will be other clips showing you how to set it up :DDD

  • fascinating to watch, but wouldn't the IC engine choke to death on the residue left after burning wood smoke/gas?

  • Make whiskey too!

  • Its not about reducing the carbon foorprint-which I like.

Its about running a welder,or an engine, and producing power to do something with-not some tree hugger mango whip fizz in a bottle, but it works dont it?

  • Great

  • song name??

  • people are worried about if this tech was to hit mainstream people would cut down trees and they are probably right they are assuming you will use yard waste, junk mail, nut shells etc but most lazy people are not willing to go through with that they would rather watch the idiot box for 6 hours after work

  • kudos 1:07

  • Good ol American Ingenuity love it...

  • can you run it off of books?

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its great and all, but what the hell are we going to use for compost?

  • made something with a welder to power another welder forever on yard debris. spiffy

  • With a little ingenuity, you can run your car on a Wood Gasifier.

  • @Posternal lol- OVER Half-Million Trucks and Jeeps in and after WW2 used this Method to do so. Its also being used to run certian vehicles now.. It doesnt make BP very happy though. Now we switch to "Cheap" SyntheticOil Plus cheap fuel(s). The Middle East will hit Povery Over-Night and WE can become 100% Independant. Sounds like a Plan to me!

  • Natural gas has about ten times the amount of energy per unit as opposed to wood gas. If you own a sawmill this makes sense to burn off the woodchips and add value to that process, but if you are cutting down trees just to feed your gasifier it doesn't make sense. One commercially made industrial unit can produce a megawatt of power..........you just have to burn 20-25 tonnes of wood a day to do it. that kind of scenario just doesn't equal enviro friendly to me

  • @Foeley Not many people will be able to get off the grid, but those that do will feel great!!!!

  • @Foeley really you can burn anything dry in there such as plastic

  • @banglolshot no it has to be organic. try animal boop. haha. or you can try your own, i'm sure it's organic. lol

  • @executableapplet actually i think you can burn anything dry i mean when you burn plastic you get loads of smoke and all of that smoke can be filtered into gas :)

  • @banglolshot seriously? hmm...cool!

  • @Foeley I can GROW 20-25 tons of biomass a day on acreage, forever. I cannot pull natural gas from the earth forever. If you look at environmentally friendly is something that doesn't expend the planet, anything you do with biomass is inherently environmental - anything you do with fossil fuels/gas is not.

  • I've noticed that in all these Green, sustainable, eco friendly, Alternative energy videos that they always play the same music.

  • Hey dude thanks a billion, you rock and are a grear fabricator too, Yea I saw those welds....

  • what happens if i stored this some how in a old fire extinguisher bottle and compress it could i make a blo torch?

  • They did this in WW2 to power their autos when there was no gasoline. Cap n Trade may force people to do this sort of thing.

  • only problem is its corrosive in a engine

  • I think he's right about future individual energy producers. I've had some ideas for this for a long time. Probably should get back to the drawing board soon. Great inspirational vid. thanks

  • 10 out of 10

    but not enough shown

  • Si todos nosotros quemaramos leña para generara electricidad o calentar nuestra casa, desapareceria toda la madera del planeta en poco tiempo. De cualquier modo buen trabajo. Nice job but burning wood you don´t take care of the planet.

  • When we concern ourselves with carbon emissions, we are looking at carbon being added to the atmosphere by means of fossil fuels harvested from within the crust of the planet. Burning wood only recycles carbon that would otherwise be found in nature and expelled into our atmosphere eventually anyway. It surprisingly does not add to our carbon footprint! I know thats surprising, but I heard a climatologist stating that the other day.

  • Do you obtain charcoal, after gasify wood? Or remains only ash?

    Sorry my english

  • Ash. If you are getting charcoal, there is an incomplete burn.

  • actually you do end up with charcoal, if you get ash then that means that there is oxygen getting into your combustion chamber and your not producing wood gas

  • yea but you get Bio-char instead of regular charcoal so its good in either your grill or out on your vegetable patch

  • please help with adivece on my new project, watch my video wood gasifier...

  • any ordinary wood (bon) fire is an gas fire .....

  • CapitanoGUC, gasification is the second stage of wood burning that releases flammable gases to be ignited by something like a combustible engine. Please if you dont want to try or suggest to others to try it then stfu and allow those of us that are doing, help those that want to learn.

  • Well presented and definitely worth watching. It's nice to see something with a practical application being shown.

It's nice to get away from the "something for nothing" and "over unity" idiots so often seen on YouTube, plus you gave potential makers some insight into the fact that they will need some skills and tools to make this.

    10/10 Rated, with pleasure.

I just love your carburettor :-) That was imaginative.

  • how do you make a gasifier without having an external heat source?

  • The external heat source comes in the form of a burning piece of paper or a torch. Once the coal are lit, the fuel (wood) provides the heat needed to break the rest of the wood down into burnable gases.

  • Ah ok then, thanks, what is the best fuel to use as i just made a small one (1L) and had a small wood/fire lighter fire going and this was insufficient...?

  • ...or you can use sun and parabolic mirrors for heat generation.

  • @jm41637 Dude you read my mind! If you break down gasification into all the chemical reactions that take place, they are endothermic. So you could use the thermal energy from the sun to provide the energy to turn carbon and steam into carbon monoxide an H2. Greatest minds think alike, don't you think?

  • @yellowmetalcyborg ...yap, that's the point :)
