This is very beautiful and very important footage. It's amazing to think I practice this very same Kata in 2007. That in itself is testament to the concept that Kata is important to transmit knowledge of waza and to keep Kendo alive.
Well, to be fair it isn't that amazing to still be doing this in 2007. My sensei has practiced with both of these men and is still doing kendo today. Sure, he turns 87 on Tuesday, but this is still within one lifetime.
Kodansha publishing company wants to tear down Noma Dojo, a historically important dojo on their grounds. Before the war, Noma Dojo was one of the four great dojo of the eastern
capital. Now it is the only remaining one. It was the site of the last kendo competition that was attended by the Emperor, and the dojo of
the most famous sensei of the 20th century Mochida Moriji sensei.

Doubtful; the samurai class was dissolved after the Meiji Restoration in 1867. However, it is likely that they either studied under former samurai or the students of those who used swords in combat back when they were still relevant. That said, the samurai had been bureaucrats rather than military men for 300 years prior to WWII; it is doubtful that the old combat forms still existed even under the Tokugawa.
lol @ "tenguryu © 2005", this video is older then you are. And yet, you claim ownership and right over it like a IP(illusionary property) idiot. Maybe you should get a job at the MAFIAA...
Do something useful; like posting torrent for the highres source of this video. Maybe then we could see what they are doing...

Not all of us i think. Like all "skills", it changed to "ways", that's the way they increase the accuracy of kill capacities
