  • Wow very nice

  • that was a pleasure to listen too.thank you

  • Robert definitely plays with heavier tone, but David is still a great Euphonium player.

  • oh please robert is better hear is tone compared to david his is so much darker, david has a light tone i can't really hear is power like his father, both have brilliant tone and musicianship

  • keep in mind the quality of the top horns has improved since then and david had his father to learn from.

  • pause @2:39 guy on left resembles Steven Mead

  • Denis Wick mouthpieces ftw.

  • i had never heard bob. is he better than David, or is it just me?

  • I had half forgotten how good Bob was!! amazing!!

  • Was that a Super C at the end?

  • it's an F (concert Eb)

  • Very nice, but he's no Roger Bobo.

  • Maybe because he plays euphonium :D

  • Lol haha yeah I know...I just wanted to brag on Bobo a little. :P

  • aled wiiliams is better than him in my book

  • but childs has done much more to promote euphonium as a solo instrument and is considered to be one of the best ever to play

  • That blew me away it was incredible!!!

  • wow. i am totally blown away. that is simply incredible.

  • wow amazing!

  • It is a boosey& hawkes (round stamp) sovereign that Bob is playing on guthoriantony should've went to specsavers ;-)))

  • WOOPS! ha just figured they would both use the same type =p looks the same but ya ha

  • robert childs has such a darker tone than david. its fun to caompare the two of them.

  • the british tone of 20-30 years ago is so much "darker" than now

we've all gotten americanized (willsonized) lol

  • or maybe, its just because we're able to do better recordings nowdays, then 30 years ago..

    Or I am wrong?

  • how could time affect sound in a different generation of players?

  • pre willson and pre international touring

  • explain

  • He's good!

  • ae i ddnt know he was part of grimethorpe collery band...nice!

  • I remember all of this, a few years earlier i was in the Young Musician of the year comp, met some phenomemal Euph players, but we all gave it upto go teaching.... The late 70's early 80's was a EUPh,onasia... We had the best players around, John Hall, Dougie Bird, Richy Hogg, Mark Hicks, bring back those days. Clear, articulate solid playing, the soloists of their day....ROCK ON...

  • O.O

  • is he playing on a Besson?

  • its a york not a besson david also plays on a york and the mouth piece is a dennis wick for got the numbers i think 3.5 lol

  • it's a "round stamp" sovereign

  • @guthoriantony 4 AL i think

  • @guthoriantony David plays with denis wick 4AL

  • @guthoriantony Its probably a 4 but thats ok

  • faster fingers does not make better music

  • No, but they do help a lot!

  • holy crud i wish i could play like that!

  • But you can see where David Childs gets his talent from.

  • I Agree

  • youre a pendejo raul jr :P...lol

  • ARound 205 how is he playing all those fast high notes with the melody he is also playing below that? That was awesome!

  • This is why I still play this instrument.

  • this is probably the most impressive piece you can play for someone

  • Didnt his dad die the night before the contest aswell, hence why he starts to cry at the end?

  • i dont no but that made me cry

  • Yes i think you're right. I watched this when it was first shown . What an inspiration. It was an emotional performance by a master of his instrument. Bravo!!

  • Good God - Robert Childs, Brighouse and Rastrick, and conducted by James Watson. Amazing top 'f' on the last note.

    Any more videos?

  • Eb actually

  • Ah, an F in Bb is what I meant

  • oh ok. i guess your a trumpet player?

  • I am an Euphonium player - sadly not even in the same galaxy as Mr Childs!

  • He's a BRASS BAND euphonium player! Whole different breed altogether.

  • Not really. Im a brass band euphonium obv nowhere near as good as any proffesional but im still the same as a non-brass band euph player!

  • Thanks for vid

  • Thanks for upload this video!!!
