I find it interesting that even the Chief Engineer doesn't know what vehicle he is actually driving. He mentions the Pentestar V6 often in the video...yet he is driving one with the dual exhaust and the HEMI V8...
Looks like they've done their best to create an idiot proof vehicle that will compensate for even the dumbest drivers. My old 1996 JGC is pretty primitive by comparison but that just means I'm more involved in actually driving the vehicle. Still, got to admit they've created a nice SUV here and I hope they sell a million of them.
@JackKangaroo1 I think I got the perfect mix between luxury, and off-road capability with the 2008. It's the CRD. Works great off-road, no really fancy gadgets helping along, while still being amazing on road. And it's diesel, what more could you ask for? :D
@Proudrebel7 As someone once told me, "happiness is not in having what you want, but wanting what you have." What you have works for you and that's what matters. I've got two cars, the 1996 JGC and a 1997 Nissan Maxima. They both run great and serve all my vehicular needs. What else matters? Good luck with that diesel, it should last a long time.
At 2:18 he says that "When hill descent is on, you can use the shifter just to control the speed." He then shifts among 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. How does he shift among these gears given that this Jeep has an automatic transmission? The shifter on Jeep's site and in the Jeep's user manual only show Drive, Neutral, Reverse, and Park and do not describe how to shift among three gears. Thanks for your help.
i like the new jeep, but i hate that they put the crappy independent suspension on it. it doesnt have much articulation ability........look at how many times the wheels come off the ground
@kendrickevans301 I dont understand your comment, independent rear is suppose to be better off road because it provides better traction as the wheel thats being affected by the terrain the most does not link the opposite wheel to that same drama leaving it free to interact with the surface it encounters.
The 1997 and 1998 Grand Cherokee's are the best and my favorite. Make more of those. Why the hell did Jeep make the 2011's look like every other new suv, like BMW, Benz, etc. These are not luxury cars and they look quite weak and they are copying all other cars. Jeeps used to have that look that made them stand out... now... well now they don't. Kind of sad.
@aaabball415 No offense to u or anything but i think the 97 and 98 were the ugliest gc's they were way too boxy and the headlights looked like crap. Also idk why people bitch so much about a vechicle being more luxurious jeep's are suv's not work trucks and if i'm gonna spend 30-40g's on a vechicle i would want mine to be as nice as the new gc. I mean not only is it more luxurious but its better off-road then its previous models so why complain.
@dirtshower250 I never knew it had this setting. So what if your dad builds them....that don't make you a Jeep expert cause he works in a plant. Many plant workers work on only one part......that doesn't mean they know everything about that vehicle.
@dirtshower250 WTF are you talking about??? At first I thought you were like 12-14....but according to your profile you are 45!!!...lmao....you remind me of the movie "Waterboy" except instead of "My momma says" you are like "My daddy builds"...LMAO
Phil, please tell me what Chrysler is going to do to right the wrongs that were done to prior Jeep owners. Specifically, 05-10 WK series Grand Cherokee owners. Has Chrysler put this thing on the market AFTER they came up with a fix for weak, faulty differentials? Or will it be the same old song? What will change with the horrible service departments that shun warranty work and leave you with a $44K Grand Cherokee that has howling and whining differentials? Response would be appreciated. Thx
@venusfan, yes, but that 's true of just about any modern SUV. Very few people actually offroad them. It's nice to know that the vehicle can handle a decent amount of offroad driving though...
@venusfan WHY is that weird.. Who cares.. people love the car and like to have the option when they want it or to simply have an excellent vehicle for when it snows...

@rbf61 I believe that the shift knob can go side to side when in drive to chose what gear you are actually in.

@rayamanelly no independent suspension is better for on road use, but not as good offroad as a solid axle
kendrickevans301 10 months ago
@rayamanelly all im saying is that if there was a solid axle, all 4 wheels would be on the ground

Anyone notice at 1:50 you can see the dual exhaust but in the begining he said it was the v6?

@vtruong1 I believe the dual chrome exhaust tips is an option on the Pentastar V6 with the Chrome Package.
sideburns2009 1 year ago
@sideburns2009 dual exhaust means it's a Hemi.chrome package would only give you one tip on the V6.
vtruong1 is correct,this is a V8 hemi he's driving,don't know why he says it's a V6.
cheers
