Today I was driving this thing in the manual shifting mode and I pushed the pedal passed the full throttle position and it shifted down..why did my car do this?
the 1.8T makes its peak power at about 5700 rpm, wouldn't it be better to shift around there. i do with mine and it just flys. and whats the difference between a regular jetta and a wolfsburg edition?
@guitarjoe209 the wlfsburg has bbs wheels and a sportier sspenson with sport cloth seats and three spoke steering wheel . and the 2001 has the aww engine =150hp and the 03 has the awp=180hp
Is there a limited slip differential mod or something like that to reduce wheelspin? 180 hp to just the fronts seems like a bit much, and it could be even more with a Neuspeed or Revo chip on 91-93 octane (215 hp).
I mean, my old Jetta had 115 hp, and the fronts were wearing out after 12-15k miles, the backs took the full 25-30k quoted by the tire manufacturer. Rotating them doesn't help much either, it just causes tons of road noise and vibration.
its like 10 or 12, but its a very small turbo. that why when you chip it and push it up to 18ish, it only makes a 30 hp gain. If you did that with a big turbo, it'd be awesome.
it prob depends on the type of bov u have and the rpm's u shift at. my car sounds best when shifting around 2500rpm. and it can be heard from like across the street.

I was surprised at the drop between 1st & 2nd gears. You went from 40 all the way down to 35. Missed shift, or is that typical for this car?
I'm thinking of getting a newer MkIV 1.8T, I had an '01 MkIV 2.slow that got totaled.

i shifted like 500 rpm too early because the road was a little wet and i didnt wanna spin too much.
1.8t is a real joy when your stock intercooler isnt heat soaked. i suggest replacing that first.

yea mine is lowered on coilovers its nice for the acceleration but when it comes to braking or wet weather it gets slippery

that car must be chipped ,stock k04

nope, stock k03 sport. 0-60 in 7 seconds.

That is really wank acceleration for a turbo. An unmodified mk1 mx5 would piss all over that and then hand you your ass in the corners.

how much hp u got? i have a stock 1.8t with a bov.
crazypete91 4 years ago
how loud is the bov on a stock 1.8t, like loud enough to hear from a ways away or no?
vXGWOODXv 4 years ago
im at stock 180 hp. at the wheels, i have no idea. you cant really hear the bov unless you get an intake. then its so-so.
wildgriffin 4 years ago
its not a bov... its a diverter valve, you can hear it pretty well if you have a cold air intake. dont run a BOV on a VAG car....bad news
