  • Is that the orginal SRV No.1 Strat?!

  • lenny

  • Lenny Live.at the El Mcambo

  • sounds amazing but the price on this thing was 17000 on this thing.... wow. i dont think i know anyone who can afford that

  • What's the song at the start? Just lovely, lovely, lovely.

  • Please, can someone tell me what's the name of the song in this video...?

    Send me a msg please...

    Tnx.

  • @andrewbozhozr

Dude the name of the song playing in the backround of this video is SRV's "Lenny".........

  • correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "Lenny" the song at the beginning of the video one of the few that MR Vaughn did NOT use "number one" on? He used the guitar his wife bought him, "lenny" right?

  • So what exactly did happen to the guitar? Did someone strip it or was it natural?

  • @beatlesman369 Its in his family's hands. Its locked in a bank vault with all his other gear.

  • Lol..Lenny was played..on well ..Lenny..the second most famous guitar..

  • Fender and Guitar Center can kiss my ass. $17,000 for a worn out looking guitar? Fuck that.

  • Hollywood needs to wake up and make a movie on the life and times of SRV. How it all started, how he got all his guitars, all the behind the scenes stuff while Jimmy is still around to get the facts straight. They did it for Buddy Holly, but i would think theres alot more Blues players and Blues fans then there is old time rock and roll theses days.

  • Number One belongs in a museum for all to see and expreience. This is the only place that should have been allowed to purchase it and only if the money from the sale went to Stevie's favorite charity. The only one who know's for sure about Number One is Jimmy.

  • Beautiful Guitar, and gorgeous song, but didn't SRV play this song on his "Lenny" guitar, and not on his Number One Sunburst?

  • The neck is not original. I also heard Jimmy sold number one to a private dealer. There was a theft at a storage locker where Stevie's clothes and other things were stored but no guitars were stolen at that time.

  • @spider62able I wouldn't have sold that guitar for any amount of money.

  • am i tripping or is the tremelo on the wrong side?

    \

  • Whoever filmed this really sucks at camera work.

  • Sorry to break it to you, but SRV did not play Lenny on Number One.

  • It's the real guitar, just accept it. Fender recorded the documentation and released this DVD of it with the guitar.

  • Comment removed

  • actually you all are wrong. the neck your seeing is from another one of srvs guitars!!! he broke the original trying to do a trick his brother used to do. he tryed bouncing off the wall and the neck broke. lol you guys crack me up. later on fender repaired the original neck and put it back on.

  • @srvforme Actually, you are mistaken. The original neck was destroyed in a stage incident in NJ on July 9th, 1990. Stevie cried when the lighting came down on his beloved Strat. R. Martinez salvaged what he could, but the neck was destroyed. By the way, there are rumors that the original guitar went missing after Fender copied it. I even read an article where JLV said the guitar is missing. Any info to clear this up would be appreciated.

  • Guitar porn

  • where did this recording come from? theres no drums bass...

  • @BondsMusic No way! you have a great ear!

  • fake

  • i want it T_T

  • you guys are blind if you think this is a copy. the date is on the back of the body behind the springs still. and if you look at the head stock where the old vintage style tuners use to be, the markings from them are there. fenders re-pro didn't get that detailed in the relic. even under the pickguard its warped and old. fender cant re-pro that good.oh and the reason it has new hardware is because stevie constantly changed his hardware. so yeah. its the real thing. accept it.

  • you guys are blind if you think this is a copy. the date is on the back of the body behind the springs still. and if you look at the head stock where the old vintage style tuners use to be, the markings from them are there. fenders re-pro didn't get that detailed in the relic. oh and the reason it has new hardware is because stevie constantly changed his hardware. if you documented the guitar better you would see that. so yeah. its the real thing. accept it.

  • ok people so that's THE actual number 1..Jimmy Vaughan is actually there..the script in the pickguard is a of Rene not being able to find holographic lettering so the "tonite show" graphics dept came up with that last min!..also you can see the split headstock..the pearl tuners..and the fact that Jimmy Vaughan is there watching everything remember this is 2003 Jimmy probably most likely let them take a gander at it by now and Jimmy Vaughan has the actually #1 locked away with the rest of stevi

  • for the song. what live performance is this?

  • @gsus723 It is the live at Montreux 1982 where he was booed the whole time he was on stage. Funny that they used a song SRV never played on Number One as the backing track for this video...

  • why are we listening to him play Lenny for a video on his number one, everyone knows he played his guitar called "lenny" for that track

  • @chrisgpix You are 100% correct sir......good call

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP!!

    3:19

  • Any one know mby where's now the orginal one SRV's Fender Stratocaster called "number one"? thx.

  • @SEVENTHSON89 why do you think?

  • @ethline

Apparently you are the retard.... since you can't read. I said this was BS.

But I could understand Fender wanting to take a look at the guitar and analyze it, it doesn't mean Fender would own it you no talent ass clown. You can obviously tell in the video that this is just a replica, there are tons of them online.

Your a douchebag, learn to read.

  • first off this is the finest Hotel in Austin, second, Stevie continued to make many modifications to his No. 1. Also what makes me think this is authentic, is that Jimmy is really, really unable to let this guitar out of his site. So it makes total sense that they would meet somewhere like this, instead of a fender custom shop. Im sure Jimmy wouldnt have that sort of thing. A man offered Jimmy a billion dollars for this guitar. Jimmy told him, to screw himself.

  • I think this is BS too.... first, Fender would have it in a lab or at least at the custom shop somewhere, not in some shitty hotel in Austin.

2nd, if you look at this video at 1:57 top left of the pic toward the strap lock of the guitar there is no white lettering, and if you look at 1:33 of this video (and many other videos) you see white lettering (SRV im guessing) by the strap lock. So i call BS.

  • @ericnhitterdal59 you retard, why would Fender have Number One? Jimmie Vaughan has pretty much all of Stevie's guitars now, except for like Lenny. You're a dipshit.

  • @ericnhitterdal59

    Sorry dude you slightly Mistaken.

The Austin City Limits DVD is perfect reference.

Part 1 of it has the White SRV that you talk of on the Top Body Horn but the 2nd part It is no longer there, by that time either worn off or removed by Stevie himself.

  • i dont buy it! it seems like kind of an insult to be putting it on youtube like that! if it was the real deal you should be ashamed.

  • They took number one to a ghetto hotel not some fender lab? Odd.

  • uhh.....Im not so sure, Im checking it

    maybe u stole it lol

  • uhh.....Im not so sure, Im checking it

  • at 3:20 and 3:30 you can see the headstock splice, great work!!

  • super thin rosewood, many refrets!!!

  • I say BULLSHIT.. That is NOT SRV's guitar..

  • the guitar was repaired for Stevie earlier in 1990 with the new pic guard and possibly bridge tremolo to im not sure on that. about a month before Stevie was killed a piece of stage prop hanging above at a show fell and snapped the head off the no#1 and he used the neck from Scotch till his death. Jimmey had it repaired with rods and glue and it came out pretty good and this is what you see in this video. I must also say seeing the guitar without Stevie leaves an empty feeling in your heart

  • @BIGBADBOB99 I agree.Stevie's guitar was his best friend.

  • I always thought SRV have taken his guitar with him the night of the crash... as anyone would have done if the guitar was as special as Number One, so I believed it broke then and that was the double tragic result of the accident. This video makes me doubt... definetely Number One (the real one) should be in a museum.

  • 3:19 "Shut the fuck up!"

  • @MrBl0nd3 LOL!

  • Funny to think that, the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen, is the same guitar that got beat to shit. xD

  • Pretty ironic that the song playing wasn't actually recorded on number 1...

  • I think it could be a proto-type they were showing Jimmy. The bridge looks fairly new, there is a lot of gold on it and all guitar players know that comes off really fast, and in another video in an actual interview SRV shows Mickey Mantle's signature on THIS GUITAR as well as Lenny.

  • @Geeper123 Was thinking the same thing, they didn't show the back of very well, but I didn't see a signature when they did show it.

  • @Geeper123 who's to say he didn't replace the bridge and saddles?or they replaced it before giving it to the custom shop?who know's who fucking cares?I'll tell you one thing on this guitar it has Kluson's and on the cheap srv signiture model(which i own) it has those fucking retard tunners that you stick the end of your string in?And half assed frets?I had to replace both but now its ok.the J.L.V. tex mex has hotter pickups though,I've lost them, swapping around, fuck me

  • @Geeper123 look at the fretboard man !!!!

  • @Geeper123

    Hmmmmm Hard to say.

I dunno how often Stevie changed stuff on the Guitar but Also if you look at the Austin City Limits Video the guitar has a 3 ply Black/White/Black pickguard and not the single ply liker this one

  • @Geeper123 ya i looked at some pics too and the tuning knobs arnt the same.

  • @Geeper123 well actully i take that back,, they did put the orignal neck back on so thoes tuner knobs could of been on that. idk lol

  • 23 people are against a guitar wonder

  • 3:19 lol at the audience " SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

  • Comment removed

  • do guitars long to be played?

  • @nickkalisz im sure Henry does

  • @lordzwaan lol make sure you tell the smithsonian not to restore it.

  • This is definitely a fake because Stevie Ray's guitar did NOT have that SRV in creme lettering in the last few years of it's life. Stevie put the holographic multi-colored self adhesive letters in a block type font. This appears to be one of the 100 copies Fender made. They should have put the holographic letters on there instead of what they ended up using. More people were used to seeing it as it was for the last several years up until the crash. Thanks for reading!!!

  • @yur1bgw9i It's just a different pickguard.. someone mentioned the guy in the video works at Fender.. so I doubt it's a fake.

  • @yur1bgw9i

Then why do Photographs of him from his last ever Show 26th August at Troy Valley show him with the Script letters just like in this Video and not the Holographic????????

  • thats a man's guitar

  • We have read the comments on this video. We feel that most of them are incorrect. We got our facts strait. This is the real number one. No replica. Have played it myself in 1984 in Houston. The guitar is restored to stock config. The strings Stevie played at Alpine Wally is 0.58 - 0.11 and those are still on the guitar. He played an long time with the neck from red. When the stock neck got worn out. Red then got an new one left handed at 1987. SRV wore then recovered back to the stock neck.

  • SRV still is owned by the family and is stored in an security valve. For those who are curious how SRV wore as an guitar. It had an quite deep low range tune. He played 1978 to 1983 most of the time 0,12 - 0,13 on the high E's And sometimes up to 0,18 on the E's. Charley Wirz persuaded him to go 0,11 instead to save his fingers. So 1984 > he started to use thinner strings. You can validate that by pictures vids. If you wonder something contact me via PM.

  • I think if i were to hold that guitar i would cry man, seriously. You can't help lookin at it like a dog thats owner died and think, Stevie's gone, now the guitar has no one :~(

  • I'm curious about the missing Mickey mantle signature too in this other video "Stevie Ray Vaughan 1985 Lifetime Show Canada TV SRV Interview" you can clearly see it around the 5 minute mark.....

  • @Geeper123 Your thinking of his other guitar "Lenny". He used the guitar for the Star Spangled Banner at the Houston Astrodome before an Astros game. His wife happened to be sitting next to Mickey Mantle so when SRV met up with his wife, he had Mickey Mantle autograph the guitar.

  • @dpordy99 I didnt know that great info

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck.the helicopters.

  • @lordzwaan SRV NUMBER1 HAD MICKEY MANTELS SIGNATURE ON BACK.ITS POSSIBLE IT WENT DOWN IN HELICOPTER. . . SRV 4EVER

  • this is NOT the original, is this fool trying to pass this video off as such? and anyway, thats a lie, the original is not ONE of the most famous in the world, its THEE most famous in the world

  • @hemet92544 Someone mentioned the guy in the video works at Fender.. look through the comments and they said his name. If you can fact check it and find the guy let me know, I'm curious.

  • @freaknbigpanda This is a REPLICA people, Jimmy would NEVER let this guitar out of his SITE

  • @hemet92544 Yea but I'm not 100% until Jimmie tells me its not, because the guy in the video works at Fender. I actually sent him a msg on twitter to see if he can confirm it.. the guy in the video.

  • @freaknbigpanda LOL come on man, since when has Jimmy EVER said anything about this guitar? never, for one its his own business, its his number one item left behind and willing to bet he has it locked away somewhere and does not nor ever has played with it since stevies death, would you? and i def would not let somebody take it to some hotel and fawn all over it, this video is a joke, its just playing to peoples emotions, like diamonds to women

  • @hemet92544 Oh I totally agree with you, but the fact that the dude works for Fender.. why would he be doing all this with a mock SRV 1 taking measurements and such? thats what I don't understand.

  • @freaknbigpanda just ask yourself this, where is Jimmy in the video??? this guitar if real would not be out of Jimmy's site, and WHO is Fender "dude", name?

  • @hemet92544 Mike Eldred Director sales and marketing for Fender custom shop.. 4:52

  • @freaknbigpanda yea okay, but also its take apart, no WAY would Jimmy let that guitar get taken apart, and WITHout him being there??? and since Jimmy is not in that room, i don't believe its number 1, the wife. as i said this video is a sham, playing off peoples emotions. but everyone can go ahead and believe what they want, freeeeeeeeee country haha

  • @hemet92544 Dude I just noticed.. look at 5:40 it's Jimmie Vaughan.. : x

  • @freaknbigpanda oh yea! haha i guess they were taking it apart to get the specs to build copies??? that geetar is the most expensive geetar in the world, and they tore it apart haha oh welllllll

  • @hemet92544 And at 5:55 I fully believe this is the real deal now, the real Number 1.

  • Wow, if I were there touching that guitar, I would just break down and start crying. I would also probably be to scared to touch it unless SRV was right there giving me permission. Wow, wow, wow, wow.....

  • The low E string is totally off the fret board when they film right above it. Is this really Steveies guitar?

  • @sergionano1

    I think its a fake.........

and why would Fender or Jimmie make a video like this documenting "Number One" while playing "Lenny" He never used this guitar for that song. He used a wine red Strat that he called "Lenny".

    Case Closed!

  • @lordzwaan DR. JONES SIT DOWN!!!

  • eghhh god it rips me apart that you guys took apart the best strat in the world haha

    5:64

  • There were at least two of these guitars. Each nearly was an exact copy of the other, but one left out a very important difference. There is a guy who makes the replicas, and he has proof and documentation that one was burried with stevie, and the one in the photo here is the one he used as a second guitar. Jim Cara builds the most remarkable clones of the SRV #1 and has documentation and photos of every variable. He's kind of a dick if you get him on the phone.

  • @666HELLGUITAR i'm not doubting your info, however, where do you get your info from? The Vaughan Estate owns Number 1, it's in the posession of Jimmy Vaughan. He has it in an undisclosed location. This meeting took place in a hotel in Austin well after midnight so that Jimmy could get Number 1 in the room without a mob of folks trying to get after him so see what guitar he had in the case because that has always been the big mystery, 'Where is Number 1!'

  • @lordzwaan Amen....

  • How did this thing get so fucked up? I know he played the hell out of it for a long time but it looks like he tried to do some homemade relic work himself with a pick axe

  • @StratoBlaster420 He pretty much did lol. he stood on this guitar, he bit it, and its fallen so many times. I was even surprised to see how many chips it has haha. just watch some of his live videos and youll understand.

  • @dogododo Lol, he called this guitar his first wife so wouldn't that be domestic violence? I've seen some of his live videos but never did I see him stand on it or it fall or get bitten.

  • @StratoBlaster420 haha a pick axe that is too funny

  • when the vid was done he dimmed the lights and made love to it.

  • The real one must sound like heaven.

    RIP Stevie.

  • wat the fuck does the guitar at someones home, it should be in the smithsonian as lordzwaan said

  • @MRklaasvaak1

Jimmie vaughan has all stevies gear locked up in a bank box some where..

  • @BluesThor they sold "Lenny" in an auction. if i remember correctly, Eric Clapton bought it

  • @psycohockeyfan

i know they sold it. guitar center bought it for 623 500 $ :)

  • It's like watching a autopsy! It just seems so surreal. If I were the Vaughan family and I had to bury one of my kin.....The thing was like a body part to the man...I would want it gently laio on my chest with my arms folded over it asking the lord to change the rules and let me take it with me.

  • is this the real thing!?

  • This is an amazing guitar the pick guard and stickers wer replaced shortly after the seperation from his wife in 1988. From what i understand, the neck and the strings were were put back on and then passed on to Jimmie Vaughan. As for the neck, the tuners look similar to the ones on "Scotch".

  • I think it's whrong to copy others guitars :(

if you want a cool guitar.

    make it your self

  • That neck is scalloped from wear! all the way down to the fret markers. Looks almost like Yngwie's Play Loud scallops, shallow but none the less scalloped! Crazy!

  • What the hell ?

  • jimmy let it out 1 time.... and the ORIGIONAL STRINGS were on the guitar from Stevie's last night. Those look pretty thin to be 13's. Also. Jimmy made Feder wear gloves to preserve the guitar. Cool video tho. Maybe next time do a song that features the Correct Guitar, not Lenny.

  • @Bluestouse86 i thought the original neck was put back on after stevie's death? how could the strings from the show in Wisconsin be on there if the neck was replaced? it's possible, and i'm not calling you a liar , i'm just questioning some of the facts you presented.

  • @cibobary8766 1:08 Does that look like vintage style tuners? The origional Neck did not have Reese's tuners on it. The Replacement neck did. and yes, the origional was re-installed, but the origional strings were re-wound onto the guitar, very time consuming but possible

  • @Bluestouse86 oh so is that the neck from Red? or what? I'm real confused, is this a real video of Number One or a reproduction? That's crazy that they rewound the strings from the concert in east troy, what a tribute. anyways thanks for clearing some of that up. what is this video from?

  • @cibobary8766 also, where is the crack on the headstock???

  • @Bluestouse86 ok i see it now, different SRV stickers, different headstock and neck, this guitar is a very good reproduction that often appears at the Dallas blues fest. there's other videos of it on youtube. unless stevie or jimmie replaced the SRV stickers, THIS IS NOT NUMBER ONE.

  • @cibobary8766

Wrong. Look at any pics of the guitar/peformance from the night he died in Aspen. The neck was replaced with the original after he died, but this is 100% the real deal.

  • @ginashina yea i did some more extensive research and realized he changed the stickers and/or pickguard later in his career. i should have looked into things furhter before making my claims.

  • In the beginning the song "Lenny" was played at Carnegie Hall on his Lenny guitar not his #1. Just thought it was weird... A video about first wife but listening to a song played on another. I'm also a huge nerd.

  • i don't understand the white wood above the pickguard. how does that happen?

  • @avin4723 That's the result of wild strumming, the pick scraped away the paint as well as any dirt, revealing the clean wood underneath...

  • i think fender destroyed srv's guitar with the replica.. the relicing on the replica suck ass!!! RIP SRV!

  • Something about his video is fascinating and wrong all at the same time. It's incredible to see #1 up close, but it's almost sacrilege to see it poked, prodded and measured like it's an autopsy. It's like they are trying to find it's soul, and in turn, Stevie's soul. I could never bring myself to touch that guitar. I wouldn't consider myself worthy.

  • @stratboy59 Quueeerrrr.

  • @stratboy59 you know in a sense that is very true, i couldnt even begin to play that guitar..............maybe just stare at it,and miss Stevie...........

  • anybody, what distortion or overdrive is he using here?

  • there is NO WAY this can be the real #1 that SRV used... The one he owned is currently in one of the museums in dallas. it may be in austin now, who knows. but no one has the right to touch his guitar other than his brother Jimmy, or his wife Lenora.

  • @avin4723 You are an idiot. This was when the Fender Custom Shop took it apart in detail so they could released the tribute replicas.

  • @avin4723 That is his brother Jimmy in some of the pictures. I remember watching an official video of this when it happened. Trust me, it was the real Number One. They met in a hotel at night so the guitar could be moved from and back without anyone noticing and therefor drawing no attention for security reasons.

  • @avin4723 he was divorced from her at the time of his death do your homework

  • @MrLarrygib1966 i know he was divorced. doesn't mean he couldn't have left her that guitar.

jimmie has it though so it doesn't matter.

  • @avin4723 you can bet that number one is not on display , jimmy has it in a vault in texas , toooo valuable to be on display. one of the most valuable guitars in the world ........................... 7 figures++++

  • Correct me if I am wrong ... there is only one problem with this little video. "Lenny" if I am not mistaken was played on his #2 Strat was it not? The white one?

  • @skynrdpikr Lenny was played with the guitar he named after his wife "Lenny" which was the guitar she bought for him on his birthday, it wasn't white, it was an old sunburst design that had faded over time so you can't tell, it just looks red. This was, for the most part, the only time he has ever played Lenny was for his song Lenny.

  • @skynrdpikr no not the white one it was the one he called lenny given to him by his then wife lenora, it was sort of brownish red color with a odd mosiac below the bridge autographed by micky mantel

  • This guitar is a 1963 body with a 1962/1963 curved board neck .. but the Custom shop repro is a slab board or at least the first ones were. They could not be bothered to reproduce it properly - much more expensive to make the curved board at 7 inch radius.

  • lenny is by far the greatest song he ever wrote

  • @aquaboy232008 wrong

  • @raderw311 i disagree

  • @raderw311 thats your opinion

  • @bigpurchase

I second that! How about scuttlebuttin' or testify? Or how about voodoo chile? Or even wham, love struck baby, little wing...the list is longer than my leg. Why Lenny?

  • @fbender722 he said WROTE. sadly little wing and voodoo chile rnt on the list

  • Kinda sucks that they play lenny while showing off stevie's #1... I think it would be more appropriate to play a song he actually played with #1.. lol

  • as a cynic i have anyalysed pictures of number1 and cross examined them to this. and i can tell you freinds....this IS the real deal......hot daaaang!!!!

  • Wow! IN-SANE to hold and film a piece of history like that! What an honor! This version of "Lenny" reminds me of when I bought the CD, took a bus to a local music store in Boise, ID to buy it and was so stoked to listen to it, I went into a stereo shop near my house and BEGGED them til they put "Lenny" on a Pioneer system that was one of the store-wide systems. The sales guy and I just smiled, reveling in SRV's Fretboard artistry!

  • the audio sounds like a cover? of course its his style but seems to lack the intensity of SRV and something just sounds off. could be one of the first recordings of lenny i guess

  • @juffurey it's from the carnegie hall album

  • isn't it like a '59 neck and a '61 body or something???...

  • well its said that the neck form one of his other strats was put on one before his death

  • @dejiita They took the neck from the red Strat and put it on number one once they were no longer be able to refret it.

  • @atolleter oh sorry i must have gotten that wrong my bad

  • is he gonna have sex w/it on the bed, in a hotel?? That wood looks like worn potatoe skin lol

  • @wisesatyr72

wtf? is that supposed to be funny? SO NOT funny !

WE Players: Axe men & women do play all the time YES even in bed!! I sleep with my #1 & 3 ! So what you got to say now?

    huh ?

    Didn't think so,,,

    Cherry Black

  • @LICherrygirl Dont get your panties all tied up in knot..its not put down to female guitar players..Dont know where your anger is coming from..its a joke,, get it? NOT!!

  • Comment removed

  • was his body 1 piece???

  • Great!!

But actually Stevie did never play this song (Lenny) with 'Number One'. He always did it with a red Strat with a maple neck. Just check his live performances of Lenny!

  • @Serkkka You mean "Lenny" the brown Strat.

  • @atolleter Yes, you're right. That drawing "engraved" behind the bridge is unmistakable.

  • @Serkkka

It's true, the strat you are talking about was a present from hsi wife, for whom the song is written for

  • Great!! But actually Stevie didn't play this song ('Lenny') with 'Number One' he always did it with a red Strat with a maple neck. Just check his live performances of Lenny!!
