Infill housing must be handled carefully to avoid causing destruction to existing homes and yards nearby - esp when the new home's "footprint" takes up the max space possible and it is the max height allowed. Drainage is a serious consideration in tight spaces. Builders tend to ignore their permanent impact on nearby properties in more ways than one.
Looks like an improvement to me. I am sure the sun still hits your home and anyone with a brain can handle the drainage. Also the house at the start of the video does not look like the same house being demolished. Do not let your jealousy get the best of you.
