I expect them to make a "Return of the Jedi" version. If they do, along with ROTJ sounds, I hope they skip the escape-fighter mini-rig and make use of that space for and engine room (like Ray said on another site) or the "top hatch" through which Lando caught Luke in ESB. If I'm not mistaken, I think the top hatch would be right where they put the mini-rig...?
An interesting bit of history: the open space between the front of the ship WAS supposed to hold a detachable escape pod. There's an illustration in a Star Wars technical book. Hasbro almost went through with it as some uber-lucky bastard has the original prototype! He put up a pic of it and it does snap into the front. I guess Hasbro was scared off by the already steep price but I still think it would have sold like hotcakes.
The best thing about the BMF is the working boarding ramp that lowers with the push of a button and the great thing about that is no electronics are needed to descend the ramp so if the lights and sounds fail you will still be able to open and close the ramp!!!
Also any problem with any of your Han's for those who have this. My han his left leg below the knee is bent out of shape possibly due to the tray he was packaged in.
Holy crap, the new one is humongous!!! I used to think the old one was quite big enough, wow!
The thing that pissed me off a bit though, is that they spent big on this, but not on the Sith Infiltrator?!!! Come on Hasbro!!! Cos I am really darn sure, that apart from Millenium Falcon, Sith infiltrator would be on the wishlist of many collectors like me!!!
Awesome review by the way. The fact that you had all three side by side, it really made the difference. It made me want it bad. TOP JOB!!!!!
haha i still have the old 90s falcon and it still works =p
thing is...i work in retail and the price this new falcon comes in is just ridiculous...the box itself is huge but the features on the box almost makes it worth the purchase...but i'm still hesitant on it.
i'll wait on it to see if these features really are worth it.
haha don't do that to me xD i've been trying to forget that impulse everytime i go haha.
well you gotta hate the state of the economy. i'm working once a week -_- plus school. i'm so in love with the falcon that if i have time, i'll model it out on Maya and put it in awesome animations xD
who knows, get a job at ILM and actually buy the falcon for cheap haha.
I have both the first and latest version. The latest one is awesome, but IMO the only plus the first version had is that the landing gear was retractable, the only flaw in the newest version. But it is an excellent piece nonetheless.
I suppose the new new one's bloody cool beacuse it's bigger and the door opens automatically, but the originals always going to be the best no matter how fancy technology gets. It's like this new Legacy Falcon it will eventually get it's ass kicked by another Millenium Falcon (It will beat it beacuse it has a ping pong feature - WOW).
WOW, the Mellenium Falcon's THE coolest Star Wars toy ship ever realessed. I've got the original Mellenium Falcon and I love the legs to it. I've seen the new new Mellenium Falcon (Legacy Collection I think it was). It's alright the new new one but it's bloody expensive (£150) just for a few lights and souds. I'm going to drill holes into the back of my Mellenium Falcon and ad LCD lights (blue).
Great review. I have the new falcon myself and its incredible, its way better than the original 1978 mold. I also have the 1979 Empire Strikes Back Falcon as well which is worth a lot and its complete. The landing gear does tend to fall off, but its only a small complaint and they can fixed on with blu tac easily. I got my falcon a few days ago and it was very expensive, it cost €200 but it was a very very excellent purchase.
Thanks for showing the comparison. The new one completely dwarfs the '95 one...very cool! Reminds me of how Hasbro retooled Luke's Red 5 X-Wing against the puny original X-Wing.
I'd love for them to build one with correct dimensions. That cockpit is so out of scale its almost like a toon version.

Sorry I meant the first two. The new one is not only larger, it's more realistically proportioned (longer front triangles compared to the width).
dtstrain 2 years ago
@dtstrain not by much the cockpit is overlarge compared to the film model
trans8010 1 year ago
That's the exact ship from the original 1970's toy - made from the very same mold. I still have mine.
