Ah, Basilnelson! What a magnificent tribute to the ultra glamourous Miss Bennett! I've only seen a few of her films but enjoyed her performances, especially as the gorgeous brunette femme fatales in TRADE WINDS with F. March and WOMAN IN THE WINDOW with Edward J. Robinson. She could really smolder!
Miss Bennett was a petite woman, and oh, so gracious when she came to her first DARK SHADOWS FESTIVAL many years ago! She brought down the house!
Once on the Dark Shadows set I worked up enough courage to tell Joan that I thought her very best work was in the 1940's film Scarlet Street! I had loved that film for years and she made it great! Joan smiled and replied back "Oh then I take it you don't like my work here on this show"! I felt trapped and I nervously started to say "Oh no that's not what I meant" but she patted slowly on the shoulder and said she knew what I meant and thanked me!
Joan Bennett, in my opinion, became more beautiful as she got older. I enjoyed this video. But it always stopped short of showing her radiance as Elizabeth Collins-Stoddard. I'd like to have seen a little practical, brainy, loving, caring Liz in the video.
I tend to favor her sister, Constance, but Joan was quite lovely, and a wonderful actress. You don't see women like this in film very often these days. As usual, you've provided an excellent tribute.
She was definitely the most beautiful woman of all times, and I must admit that, even if I'M a woman, I like to look at her pictures because she was so beautiful and had something mysterious and sofisticated, I have lots of her wallpapers
Joan Bennett rose to fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood but in 1951 a scandal due to romantic rivalry ended her movie career. Joan worked in television in the 60s and had sucess on a soap opera along with a few other productions. She was a talented actress with a lovely screen presence.
I think she looked like Hedy La Mar when she turned brunet. Much more attractive than as a blond. The movie was Trade Winds when she did this asounding thing. The audiance gasped.
Yes, Joan grabs the Bennet spotlight once again...a friend of mine saw her in an elevator in Los Angeles...and said she was picture perfect...this just a few years ago.
Miss Bennett sure was a beautiful woman. She is greatly missed.

there's kind of melancoly character about her, even when young.

Joan Bennett was beautiful as both a blond and a brunette, but I must confess I think her more beautiful as a brunette.

She looked like a totally different person as a blonde. I guess if she'd never played on Dark Shadows, I would never have recognized her at all.

Joan Bennett's grandfather was one of the first all-black regiments to fight in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
