Maybe you are right. but keep in mind : a few thousand years ago the earth was inhabited by a few million humans living in bare conditions. Meanwhile in year 2010 we are some 6 billion humans using polluting means of production to meet the standard of comfort we decide to get (cars, airco, fridge, ...). Earth warmingup : Natural or human influence?
We might be spoiling a lot of things, in that I have no arguement with you. But I dont beleive that any climate change has a thing to do with us. We are smaller than we know.
@hidethisnine - problem is, things are happening in a matter of a hundred years that should take thousands. We aren't that small. Do the math on just how much one car trip emits...then multiply that by hundreds of millions living in Western countries...then imagine developing countries developing exponentially. The scale is difficult to imagine; it looks big because people scrunch together in cities, but something un-natural is happening...natural forces, but accelerated unnaturally
Oh, I figure that it probably isnt worth worrying about. The earth has a way of removing too many of any one species and we have managed to overpopulate ourselves. I understand your point, but I still find it very hard to believe that man has the ability to do anything that the earth does not wish us to do.
Thanks; your opinion is more nuanced than I'd initially thought. I still do not 100% agree. Overpopulation is serious. However, I'd vehemently disagree with man not having the ability to do that which the earth doesn't wish us to do. Pollution is one glaring example--air, water, ocean, etc. Your initial statement was just, IMO, too optimistic. We're not that far off in terms of opinion. I do wish people would understand, the earth does this. Every few thousand years we get warm, then it freezes. We didnt do it.
