I love Patti but I prefer Bernadette's version to this song -- Patti handles the big numbers better ("Some People", "Coming Up Roses") but I think her voice is too big and brassy for this song.

WONDERFUL show!!! I saw "GYPSY" this past Wednesday evening, September 17/08 at the St James Theatre on 44th Street... truly remarkable performance from Patti LuPone, Boyd Gaines and Laura Benanti, and the rest of the cast. What a marvelous show, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it! BRAVA, entire cast!!! :)

Patti LuPone is just amazing in this performance, not only because she's incredible, but because Gypsy is such a classic Broadway musical (which is exactly why it's been revived like 4 times, with amazing women) and Patti is such a famous Broadway performer. So together, it's like all my dreams have come true. xD

Yay Patti! The three of them definetely deserved the tony. =)

I just saw this yesterday. Absolutely AMAZING.

Patti LuPone's foot was still injured, but you couldn't even tell, other than the slippers she was wearing- when they announced that she had injured herself before the show started, there was an enormous cry from the audience, and then they followed with 'so she will be wearing isotoners for the duration of the performance', and everyone kind of sighed relievedly and then cheered.

I agree- they did an absolutely marvelous job. And while I don't know too much about Laura Benanti, I do know that she is a fabulous actress! The transformation from Louise to ' Gypsy' was superbly done.

I saw Gypsy last weekend, it was a religious experience. Fantastic. Better than sex, or Porn. lol.

Patty Lupone had injured her foot and did the show in isotoner slippers but it didn't matter, she blew me away. Laura Benanti who plays Gypsy is unreal on stage.. The whole cast is amazing.
