This song is first time presented 1957 on World Youth Festivan in Moscow by Serbian singer and composer Dushan Jakshich (Душан Јакшић-Dušan Jakšić) I always loved this song and it was a big surprise for me because I use to think that this is old Russian song:)
In RAI show "Napoli porto tutti" 1965 this song was in final with famous "O Sole Mio"
My dad used to sing this to us in Russian. I never knew it translated into English and when we would ask, he said it didn't have the same meaning in English as it did in Russian. The first verse of this song is the only Russian I can speak. He died recently and I've been listening to the Red Army Choir sing this for days now. It embodies my fathers character. Such a beautiful song.
I've not visited Moscow but anytime when I listen to this song, I always feel a huge sadness. Does anybody have the version of Michael Jackson when he performed in Moscow?

Bravo! The choir especially was INTENSELY (and beautifully) RUSSIAN!! The soloist was also great (really "russian" too - despite singing mostly in English)

It's not the same in English. It's good, but you lose so much of the meaning and emotion. Still sounds awesome and the singer does a good job.

英語とロシア語のコラボが大変素晴らしいですね!また、モスクワって、なんてロマンチックな都市だったのでしょう!行ってみたくなったのは私だけではないでしょう。
皆さん色々な言葉で称賛されているようですね。
