is it me or is septa and cummins getting real close because i heard rumors of nabi 5400 being testing wit a cummins ism and neoplan7121 being tested wit a cummins ISL on the El Shuttle this weekend.
I doubt that is true. Nabi's are in the process of being retired. Neoplans getting ISL, I doubt that too. The rest of the New Flyers still need to get overhauled to ISL.
5600-5712 are all repowered with ISL. Septa is taking out the DD50 because it is too polluting, the ISL is a cleaner engine. The next group to be overhaulde will be 5713 and up, starting next year. 5724 is the test bus for that group, as it already has ISL.
true so if thats the case wuts gonna happen to the neo's dd50 are they gonna just upgrade them 2 dd60 because ya gotta remember the artics are already underpowered plus extremly heavy and they are in dire need of a more powerfull engine since septa failed to do that in the first place by putting in a 50 engine on steroids, and swore that would've handled th job lol
I have no idea. I would love to see some artics with ISL, it is my favorite modern bus engine. If they did do that, I would also be sad because the Neoplans already sound really good with the DD50.
DD50's ever made but they are lacking plenty horsepower because not to long ago i was riding 7158 on the El Shuttle and it almost stalled on way to 69 street tryna to take the hill from marshall rode, thank god the bus had a lil running start because if it had made a dead stop and tried to go up the hill it wouldnt have been easy.
Look at the hybrids, they look almost alike the standard D40LF but with battery design different and the air condition/heat is moved up front just like the NJT Nabi did whent the A/C was moved. Get ready for these bus to roll, and get your last rides on the Septa NABI's before they're done!
I know this post is over a year old, but Septa is receiving DE40LFR's! The first batch is due to be delivered very soon. I will be at U of Pittsburgh when they arrive, but will get video when I go home for summer break.
It looks more like the Xcelsior type bus (XDE40), there was some image of the bus posted on how this bus would look like and it surely looks like the New Flyer Xcelsior! But I love the LFR series so its a win-win in my book!
If you listen carefully at 0:55 the bus engine is sayings ''boogey boogey boogey''!!
