  • Ah, I've wondered why wine ages in the bottle but whiskey does not. Now I know! Great info!

  • Different ages of whisky, with only the youngest being on the label, only apply to blended when you are talking about scotch.

    A single malt be definition is one malt. A 10 year old Laphroaig is just that, 10 years old. There is no older whisky in it.

  • @MisterPinstripe, sorry but you are not correct about that. A single malt is from one distillery, but it can be a blend of different casks, with different ages, from that distillery. Therefore, Laphroaig 10 year old may (and most certainly does) include whiskies that are older than 10 years old. The exception is a whisky labeled as single cask or with a vintage year. Such whiskies are all the same age.
