3 musicians and one singer, it is absolutely incredible what they are doing her. I do not think there is one band out there that has the shear talent that each member of The Who poses, and there are some pretty damn good bands out there.
if you can find it get the latest double DVD that has the 1969 TOMMY performance in the London Theatres and the 1977 Kilarny Live - look for the interviews with Pete in the bonus sections
Correct - Woodstock cant compete - nothing did. Just a majical moment. This is a 3.25 song on the album.... it takes twice that long. Cant find it now, but Pete stated later " well we just kept looking at each other, and we just increased the pace slowly but surely, Roger wasnt going to stop singing and - well you cant stop John or Moon, so I kept goiong with them...."
The Who represent everything I love about music. Beautiful songs, massive balls, not being afraid to take chances or making mistakes, and teetering right on the edge..
i think that the woodstock version of this song is the best thing i've ever heard, it's much more pure, raw... i can't even describe the feeling i get when watching the woodstock performance
@johnwaynepresley yes - the white light siliout - was like the best things in all of life, never planned, spontaneous and NEVER REPEATED.. i still cant believe the sound quality - from whoever produced it... remixed... whatever
I completely agree. I saw it a few years ago on VH1 and it was magical; it left me speechless. No other live performance can beat it. It was AWSOME. The Who is hands down the best live band I have ever heard. I don't know how they did it, but they did.
<I clicked on your profie and saw your comment on American Trilogy- Elvis(that's one of my top favorite songs from him); you're an Elvis fan, too!

I'm seeing Daltrey perform Tommy tonight in Hartford. If his performance is even half as good as it is here I'll probably go into cardiac arrest.

No rock band ever symbolized the bombast, the power, and the triumphant majesty of rock better than The Who.

very epic, especially at night.

This is even better that woodstock.
You can't get more energy and emotions from 3 instruments and one singer. This sounds like an apocalipse.

their f*ucked up here...for sure....this song sounds not so good as at Woodstock!> Keith Moon strange drumming!!!! :D but this is cool stuff!!

It's hard to even listen to the studio version of Tommy when you have either The Who's Woodstock performance or their Isle of Wight performance.

im 14 and i know this is the best song ever

People who talk about Pete, Roger, and Keith forget about John. He wrote and sang maybe the Who's most underrated song, "My Wife".
TheAntihero6212 11 months ago
@TheAntihero6212 He also wrote Boris the Spider, The Quiet One, and without his thunderous basslines the who would be nothing

Roger has so much emotion in his voice... like listening to the studio version is ok and stuff
but you listen to it live... and it touches me so much....
