All of the characters initially died in the plane crash. All of them died, one by one, when they had proven that they were ready to go to heaven, or hell. When Jack finally died, he and all of the others meet up together in the church to move on to heaven. Jimmy was right in the test, but it was the test to move on to heaven or hell after death. Ben didn't go into the church because he knew he wasn't going to heaven.

Such a Great Cast & Crew and the perfect locations, Every Episode brought us Questions Every Season gave us answers. The Story of Lost will never be forgotten and it will be the most talked about show living history. I loved the Finale personally I found it interesting and sad. am watching them all back to back. greetings from Manchester England

I think Jimmy slightly errs in referring to the island life as the nano second. The side flash was definitely the purgatory/nano second, shorter or longer for different people. I also think the island life may have been Jack's test, but I also think it was as much a test for all the characters that made it to the church.
@ChocolateRain68: Yep, and re-watch the episode, the characters drop lots of hints. You'll even hear Rose and Bernard's convo, where one of them says "i missed you". I wouldn't be surprised if that shaking of the plane was actually the last of the losties dying and crossing over into that "Flash Sideways World". When Rose tell's Jack that she's waiting for her husband, she's not just waiting for him to "come back from the bathroom", there's a dual meaning there too.
I don't get why people say the we never found out what anything means. Was I the only one who paid attention through out the 6 years.
Everthing is explained in one way or another through out the series, its just not recapped at the end like most tv shows/movies do. So you have to pay attention though each episode.

There are a few things that I would have liked to have had more info on but for the most part, I agree with your statement about how everything is explained in one way or another.

@sadydevil watch the video, the ending is open to interpretation, there IS NO definite answer. If you think he died during turbulence, then that scenario is true for YOU. Likewise, if you think it was all a dream and there was never an island than that scenario is true for YOU (although, obviously, there is a huge amount of evidence saying otherwise, meaning your theory wouldn't be the most accurate)

I loved this show for 6 years, but I think the finale was horrible. It answered no questions and pretty much made their entire expeience on the island pointless...We'll never know why the island was created and more importantly what it actually was, who is Jacob and why did he stop aging, what is the meaning of women not being able to get pregnant on the island?....They left sooooooo many questions unanswered.

I think Jimmy slightly errs in referring to the island life as the nano second. The side flash was definitely the purgatory/nano second, shorter or longer for different people. I also think the island life may have been Jack's test, but I also think it was as much a test for all the characters that made it to the church.

@ChocolateRain68: Yep, and re-watch the episode, the characters drop lots of hints. You'll even hear Rose and Bernard's convo, where one of them says "i missed you". I wouldn't be surprised if that shaking of the plane was actually the last of the losties dying and crossing over into that "Flash Sideways World". When Rose tell's Jack that she's waiting for her husband, she's not just waiting for him to "come back from the bathroom", there's a dual meaning there too.

I don't get why people say the we never found out what anything means. Was I the only one who paid attention through out the 6 years.
Everthing is explained in one way or another through out the series, its just not recapped at the end like most tv shows/movies do. So you have to pay attention though each episode.

There are a few things that I would have liked to have had more info on but for the most part, I agree with your statement about how everything is explained in one way or another.

@sadydevil watch the video, the ending is open to interpretation, there IS NO definite answer. If you think he died during turbulence, then that scenario is true for YOU. Likewise, if you think it was all a dream and there was never an island than that scenario is true for YOU (although, obviously, there is a huge amount of evidence saying otherwise, meaning your theory wouldn't be the most accurate)

Some points, because a lot of people are getting confused.
1.Everything on the island DID happen.
2.The flash sideways was not an 'alternate reality', it was a state of purgatory.
3.Time is not relative in this purgatory.
4.The characters died at different points. Some died on the island, some off.
5.I miss Lost.

I loved this show for 6 years, but I think the finale was horrible. It answered no questions and pretty much made their entire expeience on the island pointless...We'll never know why the island was created and more importantly what it actually was, who is Jacob and why did he stop aging, what is the meaning of women not being able to get pregnant on the island?....They left sooooooo many questions unanswered.
