  • CGAD

  • hes the best drummer iv ever seen

  • Absolute genius!!!!!

  • "Was that me? No it was my Aunt Matilda!". That was so funny lol

  • watch him hit the bass drum

  • I like how Ernie drums in time with the ending music.

  • Dude, and I thought Steve Asheim was good.

  • play master of puppets

  • At 0.47 he's humping the drumkit xD

  • Bert got rally mad at Ernie.

  • "Was that you knocking?"

"No it was my Aunt Matilda OF COURSE IT WAS ME!"

    WIN <3

  • dude he like fucks the bass drum lol.

  • the camera's aimed too in this sketch, they should have aimed a tad higher

  • its only so that you cant see the real drummer under them playing :)

  • bad camera height for this sketch. should have been aimed a tad higher

  • brainclick you should be a camera man then huh!

  • after 2:02, Ernie has two arms going into his hand xD

  • Nice blue cymbal. Does Zildjian make one like that?

  • paiste does

  • Hey at 1:43 you can see the light from the set reflect off of Bert.

  • Heh! At 1:03 in the bottom right corner below Ernie's drum you can see someone behind the background walking by holding up Bert for when Bert is walking back to the door.

  • at 1:03 what u see is berts reflection from the furniture

  • That is muppeteer Frank Oz.

  • Yeah, there seem to be a few holes at the bottom of the wall. Wonder what's up with that.

  • Noooo...It wasnt me, it was my Aunt Matillda! I love that part!

  • Is it right that if you check out the right bottom corner at 01:03, you can see Mr. Oz walking by behind the wall?

  • yep it is

  • The mailbox must be right outside since Bert is so quick to come back.

  • Bert never seems to take his key, like the time he wanted Ernie to let him in after grocery shopping.

  • "Was that me, no what was my aunt mathilda YES THAT WAS ME!" rofl.

  • Bert: ERNIE

  • LOL 1.27, bert does a awesome beat there, think i'm gonna sample it XD

  • Agreed!

  • rofl dude <3

  • I guess back in the 70s they had a low budget that's why you can see the feet at the bottom of the steps and Ernies 3rd arm lol

  • this sketch must have been from the early 70s

  • wow this is a rare classic

  • The BEST part about this clip is how you see bert going by in the window....Sooooooooooooo funny

  • I agree. That was great to see Bert walking by the window. It's also funny that he didn't look inside at all as he was walking by the window going to and from the mailbox. Maybe the reason why they had him walking by the window going to and from the mailbox so that the audience can see when he gets back to the apartment and just to show that Ernie is going to play a rhythm on the drum as soon as Bert knocks on the door when he gets back.

  • I just posted the album version. Interesting twist on what I posted. Bert sounds like he is having a coronary in the album version.

  • so good

  • he doeSnot SaYy fukiin...

  • very great!!!!!!!

  • lol you can see the puppeteers arm at 2:02 and it makes ernie look deformed.

  • No that was mi aunt mitilda

  • :49 does ernie say "fukin' a"?

  • ahahahahahah

  • i think he does lmao.

  • Ok, only drum skit left is the one where Ernie has Bert repeat his drum rhythm.

  • lol yeah way better than the album

he's like an orange joey jordison

  • What is that that walks past the window at 1:03?

  • That's Bert

  • take a closer look ;)

  • I just brought the album "Ernie's Hits" at a Record Sale recently and I listened to that version, and I have to admit that the ending on the album version is more funnier than this version.

  • he uses a huuuge bass drum O,O

  • Ya know, it only makes sense that Bert would play the door - what with him being locked out and everything.

  • "Come on Bert, play the door". Easily one of Ernie's best lines of all time. Along with "I'm gonna eat cookies in your bed, Bert"

  • Bert and Ernie were my absolute favorites on the show :-D

  • cool! :D

  • All of which begs the question, how in the world did Oscar, Big Bird, and the Beautiful Day Monster (among others) get into the apartment without being let in???

Which reminds me, has anyone here seen the one where Big Bird comes into E&B's apartment on some pretext and pokes his head right through the ceiling (to Bert's distinct displeasure!!)??

  • That was when Ernie and Bert were talking about Tall, Taller, and Tallest. And Big Bird comes in being the tallest. I remember that one. I hope someone can post.

  • Ernie's a great drummer and unfortunately, so is Bert! LOL

  • ERNIE

  • Do you have the show version of the listening game?

  • bert sounds kinda like squidward off spongebob

  • i LOVE 0:18

  • Looks like Ernie's got a snake hanging off his arm at 2:02. Watch out for that snake Bert! It's already got Ernie!

  • I love this but I prefer the album version because Ernie answers the door then pushes Bert back out and then they really start goin at it. Bert starts bangin on the door and Ernie is pounding on the drums. A lot funnier. This is a shorter version of that.

  • On the album version, when Ernie asks if that was him knocking at the door, Bert yells, "Of course it was me! I have been standing knocking and with my knuckles getting sore, whatta ya doing???" Totally hilarious!

  • It's even funnier, after Ernie tells Bert that he was going to practice the drums, he starts scat singing, and singing part of Rubber Ducky.

  • I agree, that was even more funnier.

  • On the other hand, the album version doesn't have Bert screaming "Ernieee!" from behind the door. Ernie decides on his own that someone might be out there. Not as funny in that respect as it is here.

  • "No it was my Aunt Matilda"

  • Yes, it was me knocking on the door I've been standing out there a long time!!!

  • How is the album version different from this one?

  • Why the hell didn't Bert take his keys with him??? I mean Ernie, Drums, Knocking on the Door.... duh?? =P

    Awesome sketch though!! =D

  • Maybe Bert lost his key

  • Bert: "Was that me? No it was my Aunt Matilda -- YES IT WAS ME KNOCKING AT THE DOOR, I'VE BEEN STANDING OUT THERE A LONG TIME!"

  • An absolute classic, and one of the first Ernie and Bert sketches I remember. I'll never tire from watching this.

  • Great classic! I love this one.

  • Bert has always had a short fuse, and it shows here. His sarcastic remark when he came back was hilarious!

I do have the album version of this, and although I prefer that version over this one, it's still good. Thanks!

  • Notice when Bert leaves for the mailbox how Ernie shifts to his right so we can see when Bert leaves and comes back through the window. I love old school Sesame Street.

  • lol sounded like bert was punching the door ....keheheheheheh loved it when he freaks out at ernie

  • Another blooper observed: At the end, when Bert slams the door, we see a crew member grab the bottom of the door to slam the door.

  • You're right i see it too..

  • As an avid SS and B & E fan for 35+ years, I thank you...this is definitely in my top five of favorite B & E skits! Too funny! "C'mon Bert, play the door!"

Ernie certainly had some drummer blood in him. Phil Collins? Peter Criss? Maybe Ringo or Keith Moon.

  • What about John Bonham?

  • Or perhaps Dennis Wilson or Jay Osmond?

  • Or even Neil Peart!

  • Why did he have to lock the door in the first place? He was just going to the mailbox and back, 30 seconds tops?

  • Maybe it,s like the front door to my house. You can't open it from the outside without a key.

  • You neveer know; Sesame Street is supposedly set in New York City after all!

  • True, and Sesame Street is crawling with monsters, don't you know? HA HA

  • Bert and Ernie's picture is also in a different location. It's supposed to be in the middle of the room, not next to the door. Funny sketch too.

  • "No it was my Aunt Matilda!"

Bert kind of overreacted in this one. He only had to wait about 30 seconds before Ernie realized he was at the door. Bert's temper was a bit overDRUMatic!

  • This is the part where Bert should be banging his head against the door!

    Heh.

  • Hey! Wait a sec! There's a blooper here!

You can see the bottom of the set.

And as Bert walks past the window both times, you can see Frank Oz's feet walk by.

  • Hey yeah, look at the bottom left too. You can see Frank Oz 'open' the door while holding on to Bert's arm rod.

    COOL!!

  • Thanks for posting this! I haven't seen this one in years! Not to mention this is the same drum set pieces used in the one where Bert and Ernie play different rhythms!
