i agree, regine is the best. there is nobody else that is close to her. there are a lot of good filipino singers but no one can sing like her. sshe not only have the voice but she possess all the ingredients that is needed to sing a powerful song: power, feeling, interpretation, voice. that makes her different. like whitney houston

Then she immediately blew a SKYROCKETING BELT; then 2 more 10-SECOND HIGH-OCTANE BELTS at the end of the song which showed her INCREDIBLE LUNG POWER. Tita Regine lol...this was 20 years ago...and about 3-4 years before this she bagged the trophy in Tanghalan ng Kampion...i kinda miss the way she sang when she wuz younger...pure talent...so fresh and powerful...hits the notes right bet the eye...now she budgets her vocal power more but use a lot more technique..btw, shes 10x better live, heared her sing in the living room a few times..JAW DROPPING..i alwas thought she's one of the best in the world...
well..I agree krooner that she can really hit a high note..but her voice is just too small ...so its just very annoying to listen to...it hurts my eardrum..unlike Charisse..her voice is very solid and powerful .that's just my oipinion.

She makes it look like it's just all play. Her lower notes, middle, higher and highest notes sounds the same and doesn't change. The tone and sound remains the same without effort and the transition from one note to another, getting higher, is smooth. scream? I don't think so. I haven't heard anyone who can belt as smooth as Regine. I'm a singer and my dad's a musician. We are both professionals and we both agree, her middle notes to her belting notes, the tone does not change with no tensions.
@TheKrooner Don't you find her high notes irritating to your ears? A good musician can discriminate a shout from pure music. Yes, I agree that she can sing but she has lots of downside to improve.

Regine is not just a gifted singer but an exceptional gifted singer. No other new young singers can come close to her talent, no matter how famous they are. They simply struggle in their singing. Regine even at her early teens sings effortlessly as if she's just talking, even with those high notes. She's even better now because she knows how to use and take care of her vocal instrument.

I agree with you. Simon ain't all that when it comes to musicality. Besides, as much as I'm proud of Charice, she still can't hold a candle to Regine when it comes to live singing, range & versatility. Regine can stylize songs on her own whereas Charice blatantly copies a song note for note. Further, the US (being a youth-obsessed nation) discovered Charice at the right time. Besides, Regine can also do (besides these "Dreamgirls" songs) soaring ballads like that of Michel Legrand.

Gosh, whoever that was, she really TRIED her best (or worst) to COPY Regine's vocals. But sadly, like many other amateur and professional singers out there who imitate Regine, she failed miserably because her rendition was terribly off-key and obviously FAKE.
WOW!!!! I love all Filipino singers... but Regine is just SO GREAT! I was a toddler watching her films like Pik Pak Boom as I was growing up. But I also like Charice, and Sarah, and Sheryn, and Rachel Ann... But REGINE is such an inspiration.
Yes, Regine is the SUPREME DIVA of the Philippines and still the one and only ASIA'S SONGBIRD. All those young singers and even veteran singers all agree. And even WORLD-CLASS artists/musicians as Peabo Bryson, Michel Legrand & Brian Mcknight all agree that Regine is as good or even BETTER than American divas. Well, Regine is simply the BEST. :)

Listen to 2:20 to 2:34. Regine sang those series of HIGHNOTES while HOLDING HER BREATH for an UNBELIEVABLE 14 SECONDS! Tita Regine lol...this was 20 years ago...and about 3-4 years before this she bagged the trophy in Tanghalan ng Kampion...i kinda miss the way she sang when she wuz younger...pure talent...so fresh and powerful...hits the notes right bet the eye...now she budgets her vocal power more but use a lot more technique..btw, shes 10x better live, heared her sing in the living room a few times..JAW DROPPING..i alwas thought she's one of the best in the world...

Pasalamat ka at wala pang Youtube nung kapanahunan ni Regine eh. Hindi niya kinailangan ng Youtube para makilala internationally okay. She makes it look like it's just all play. Her lower notes, middle, higher and highest notes sounds the same and doesn't change. The tone and sound remains the same without effort and the transition from one note to another, getting higher, is smooth. scream? I don't think so. I haven't heard anyone who can belt as smooth as Regine. I'm a singer and my dad's a musician. We are both professionals and we both agree, her middle notes to her belting notes, the tone does not change with no tensions.

@TheKrooner Don't you find her high notes irritating to your ears? A good musician can discriminate a shout from pure music. Yes, I agree that she can sing but she has lots of downside to improve.

@labsciescorned I think Regine's version here is absolutely FINESSE. Her voice is consistent from SOFT-TONED prelude to SKYROCKETING end. Unlike other artists who sang it with a lot of big awful GROWLING which ruin the over-all melody of this lovesong.

Regine is not just a gifted singer but an exceptional gifted singer. No other new young singers can come close to her talent, no matter how famous they are. They simply struggle in their singing. Regine even at her early teens sings effortlessly as if she's just talking, even with those high notes. She's even better now because she knows how to use and take care of her vocal instrument.

Indeed, Regine is INCOMPARABLE. So no need to compare her to other artists especially to young singers. Regine is never insecure to any of them, in fact, she even supports them. Moreover, most of today's new singers IDOLIZE Regine so there's absolutely nothing more to say how PHENOMENALLY TALENTED Regine is. Thanks for supporting Regine. :)

kahit ano pang ugali ni regine my talent parin xa im not a fan of her pero tyong mga pilipino talga kahit walang namng ibubuga hay kung maka pang lait at sobrang yabang pa parang gusto laging my world war.. charic is different compare with regine they have both a good voice.. eh yung mga ng lalaet at at mahilig mag compare dito eh ay ewan kitid utak... at isapa kayo ba mas maganda boses nyo kay regine or kay charice...

Charice's BIG-VOICED version made her famous via youtube. Regine's SKYROCKETING version made her the Asia-Pacific Song Festival Champion then became the ASIA'S SONGBIRD. Who's better depends on your musical taste. I will be happy if Charice would finally conquer the mainstream music in America but for now, let's not compare the two. Regine is still one of Charice's idols. :)

I agree with you. Simon ain't all that when it comes to musicality. Besides, as much as I'm proud of Charice, she still can't hold a candle to Regine when it comes to live singing, range & versatility. Regine can stylize songs on her own whereas Charice blatantly copies a song note for note. Further, the US (being a youth-obsessed nation) discovered Charice at the right time. Besides, Regine can also do (besides these "Dreamgirls" songs) soaring ballads like that of Michel Legrand.

well you've got a point... as a matter of fact, i love regine's songs... especially the music in her early day and the ones written by Ogie. I also do have great respect for Regine's appeal in the cinema. most of her movies are very successful in the box office.
however, this rendition of I Am Telling You... i'm not that impressed. it's good but not mind-blowing.

FYI, this was Regine's POWERFUL SKYROCKETING performance at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, USA, where only the BEST SINGERS in the WORLD are invited to sing. Prior to this, she also sang this HEART-WRENCHING song at the Asia-Pacific Song Festival in 1989 that made her the unanimous CHAMPION. Undoubtedly, WORLD-CLASS MUSICIANS & JUDGES were impressed by Regine's powerful & passionate version. Do you think your insignificant, baseless & Visayan opinion matters? I don't think so. :)

Gosh, whoever that was, she really TRIED her best (or worst) to COPY Regine's vocals. But sadly, like many other amateur and professional singers out there who imitate Regine, she failed miserably because her rendition was terribly off-key and obviously FAKE.

WOW!!!! I love all Filipino singers... but Regine is just SO GREAT! I was a toddler watching her films like Pik Pak Boom as I was growing up. But I also like Charice, and Sarah, and Sheryn, and Rachel Ann... But REGINE is such an inspiration.

Yes, Regine is the SUPREME DIVA of the Philippines and still the one and only ASIA'S SONGBIRD. All those young singers and even veteran singers all agree. And even WORLD-CLASS artists/musicians as Peabo Bryson, Michel Legrand & Brian Mcknight all agree that Regine is as good or even BETTER than American divas. Well, Regine is simply the BEST. :)
