@SKATmandome Technique overcomes size - Royce Gracie proved that almost 20 years ago. The weight classes are for fighter who both have the technique - and you still sometimes see a much smaller guy beat a big guy - Cain vs Brock, Edgar vs Maynard. Im glad I never trained in your gym(you probably dont have one).
@MsMarc1234 That's a good point. I like Mayhem and Diaz (Mayhem mostly for his personality). Mayhem's last fight was embarassing though. If he could've had the wind to keep the pressure on Bisping like in the first round, he may have pulled out the win. I hope he comes back stronger in the next fight. Its better for Mayhem to face someone with more power then someone with great technique. I think Leben is a good match up, and then send the marine(Brian Stann) to retire Wanderlei
@MsMarc1234 You might be right. Then again, Leben took care of Wanderlei in about 20 seconds. Stann shouldn't have to step down in competition. I'd almost like to see a Stann v.s. Leben rematch down the line! That was a crazy first round. Chris Leben has to be one of my favorite middleweights ever. He doesn't always win, but nobody has heart like that guy! I think Miller could be competitive if he gets some wins and builds some momentum. He does need to improve striking though!
@travisxgreggxajax1 I think Stann stepped up too much in competition when i faced Chael Sonnen. No way he is ever gonna be on that level. To me guys like Stann is just for fun fights, and so is Wanderlei, so for me that would be a good fight. Its kind of the same wih Leben. No way he ever beats the best in the division - Belfort, Munoz, Anderson, Sonnen, Okami. Those are the top guys, with guys like Palhares as the dark horse.

I almost felt bad for Okami at a point. It lets us know how good Sonnen is even though he was juicing. For him to dominate the champ like that for so long, even in the striking department was pretty damn impressive. I can't wait to see them fight again. It is Anderson's only competition stylistically.

Amazing BJJ. Sounds like you just watched the wikipedia page and not the actual fight. Cheal probably has better hands, but Maia have really developed great muy tai since the Anderson fight. Maia isnt the best grappler in the world, but i think he is the best to be succesful in MMA.

The mistake I was referring to was then he decided to get into any sort of grappling exchange with someone who can literally submit anyone! lol. If they fight again, maybe he'll be smarter about it and try to knock him out on the feet. Chael isn't really known for his punching power though...

@SKATmandome Technique overcomes size - Royce Gracie proved that almost 20 years ago. The weight classes are for fighter who both have the technique - and you still sometimes see a much smaller guy beat a big guy - Cain vs Brock, Edgar vs Maynard. Im glad I never trained in your gym(you probably dont have one).

@MsMarc1234 That's a good point. I like Mayhem and Diaz (Mayhem mostly for his personality). Mayhem's last fight was embarassing though. If he could've had the wind to keep the pressure on Bisping like in the first round, he may have pulled out the win. I hope he comes back stronger in the next fight. Either that, or it's back to Bully Beatdown probably.

@MsMarc1234 Everyone is saying Mayhem should be cut, but I don't agree. I think he is incredibly talented, and obviously tough after taking all that punishment and smiling back at Bisping. I kinda like seeing that! lol. He's a warrior, but he had a bad showing. With better cardio, he will be competitive. I'd like to see him take on a Chris Leben or a Wanderlei Silva. Then again...they hit a lot harder than Bisping!

Its better for Mayhem to face someone with more power then someone with great technique. I think Leben is a good match up, and then send the marine(Brian Stann) to retire Wanderlei

@MsMarc1234 You might be right. Then again, Leben took care of Wanderlei in about 20 seconds. Stann shouldn't have to step down in competition. I'd almost like to see a Stann v.s. Leben rematch down the line! That was a crazy first round. Chris Leben has to be one of my favorite middleweights ever. He doesn't always win, but nobody has heart like that guy! I think Miller could be competitive if he gets some wins and builds some momentum. He does need to improve striking though!

@travisxgreggxajax1 I think Stann stepped up too much in competition when i faced Chael Sonnen. No way he is ever gonna be on that level. To me guys like Stann is just for fun fights, and so is Wanderlei, so for me that would be a good fight. Its kind of the same wih Leben. No way he ever beats the best in the division - Belfort, Munoz, Anderson, Sonnen, Okami. Those are the top guys, with guys like Palhares as the dark horse.

@MsMarc1234 I agree. Okami and Munoz are debatable though. I was hoping Leben would beat Munoz...but it wasn't so. Watching Silva dispatch Okami the way he did was brutal. I almost felt bad for Okami at a point. It lets us know how good Sonnen is even though he was juicing. For him to dominate the champ like that for so long, even in the striking department was pretty damn impressive. I can't wait to see them fight again. It is Anderson's only competition stylistically.

@travisxgreggxajax1 Silva dispatched Leben too, and Belfort and EVERYBODY with the exception of Chael Sonnen. You cant blame Okami for losing to Anderson in Brazil. Sonnen wasnt "jucing". It is well documented that he wasnt. Please dont say stuff like that, when you are not informed on the subject - it hurts the athlete and the sport. We might never see that fight. Anderson is a old man, and might want to retire without loss.

You should do your homework before you talk about it because statements like that IS HURTING THE SPORT. I dont think he made a error against Maia - have you watched the fight? Maia ran right through him. I've been doing boxing and BJJ for a long time, and if there is someone i find really scary its Damian Maia.

@MsMarc1234 Maia's hands are improving, but they aren't great yet. I think Chael could possibly outstrike him, but it would be close. Maia is a wrestler's worst nightmare though, and Chael took him right down and got submitted. Wouldn't it have been better to stand and trade with a guy who is one of the best submission grapplers in the world? Don't act like you can talk over my head man. @travisxgreggxajax1 Chael didnt take Maia down - Maia took him down, and from the top he mounted him and tricked him intro using his wrestling to reverse the position right into a triangle. Amazing BJJ. Sounds like you just watched the wikipedia page and not the actual fight. Cheal probably has better hands, but Maia have really developed great muy tai since the Anderson fight. Maia isnt the best grappler in the world, but i think he is the best to be succesful in MMA.

@MsMarc1234 It's been awhile since I saw the fight, but I did see it. From what I remember, Chael took him down, but got immediately swept, mounted, and submitted. The mistake I was referring to was then he decided to get into any sort of grappling exchange with someone who can literally submit anyone! lol. If they fight again, maybe he'll be smarter about it and try to knock him out on the feet. Chael isn't really known for his punching power though...

Chael didnt decide to grapple - actually, earlier in the fight when Maia pulled guard, Sonnen stands up. "maybe he'll be smarter about it and try to knock him out on the feet." - that is what he did. Anyway, maybe if they fight again, Chael will be more efficient at utilizing some defensive wrestling and avoiding any sort of a clinch or ground scenario. Diaz would dismantle GSP in the standup exchanges, and he could probably be one of the few guys to sub him on the ground too. If Diaz wins, it will be by a knockout or submission. However, I'm a fan of GSP due to his class and professional attitude. He is a respectable athlete and person. I'm not trying to hate on him. He's easily the 2nd best in the world right now next to Silva, and some would argue that GSP is number one. He will be challenged with Diaz more than ppl think.
