yeah that video quality was one reason for buying this cam. but my first testshots in AVCHD where quite dissapointing with also lots of artefacts and blurry image, though i use a class 6 SDHC. please give us some hints... thank you!

did you switch the "following AF" off for instance?

If they make a compact camera like this , same size but have 24x zoom or up and under 400 bucks , i would be the 1st one who buy it. They only make the compact cameras with full body that have those awsome zoom and guess wat, you can never fit it in your pocket.

I have found this camera to be near perfect although what i have noticed when filming and then playing it back is how it looks a bit like a fish eye at the edges. I'm sure that's because of the wide angle lens. Other thing i have noticed if you slightly film into the sun you will get a blue vertical line across the screen which is a bit annoying. Also even if your filming away from the sun and the sun is reflecting of cars this also happens.

I just bought this camera myself.

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. YOu won't be disappointed. Keep in mind that low light pictures are not the greatest but you can't expect too much in that department from a point & shoot. It's still better than MOST P&S in low light situations.

I've been looking through several HD youtube vids on compact digital cameras. The Panasonic Zs3 is right up there!

But after seeing the digital SLR like the Canon EOS 5d Mark II matched with the right lens it became obvious that the HD quality and zoom factor was superior.

Thats a $4000 vs $300 difference depending how serious you'd be about a camera.

how do you get the videos taken from the TZ7 onto the computer?? I can't find it on the SDHC card and its really starting to annoy me

GameWalkthroughs1234, assuming you've connected the USB cable to both the camera and the PC, click the "Acquire" button in the PHOTOfunSTUDIO application to transfer the movies or pix to the PC. See Page #99 in the PDF manual.

I've just finished with uploading bunch of videos, majority of them taken with tz-7 (HD, quality set to Low). Overall, I'm satisfied with camera. Only thing that bothers me is that sound of motor when zooming in/out (it can be heard only on silent movies with no much background nose). But I think I can live with that.

If you take a video of landscapes like this where you do not need any sound effect, just cover the mic with something to get rid of the wind noise.

Can you buy a microphone to make that wind sound go away? I've noticed on a lot of videos by this camera that you hear the wind and it's really the only thing I don't like about the camera.. how can you take it away?

To get something better....be prepared to spend £1k+ on an SLR

How did you get this to be widescreen? I tried filming with my new panasonic tz7 and it didn't turn out nearly as good as this. somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? my quality looks also much worse than this.

video recording settings at 4:3 format is low quality. you must change in tz7 options for 16:9 format and quality will be nice !

PhoboxDeimos, with the camera in movie mode, click the middle button called "Menu Set'. Next, scroll down to ASPECT RATIO and change it to 16:9 and press "Menu Set" again to exit.

Next, press "Menu Set" again to reopen the same menu. At the top with PICTURE MODE highlighted, press the right arrow key and choose 30fps 16:9H. Press "Menu Set" again to exit.

The camera will now record in 1280x720 widescreen.

this is so helpful for me above my expectations, especially that i'm interesting on catching rare photos + videos of creatures those are are so sensitive against getting close so they never run away and lose your moment. this video really meant alot for me and i'm 100% now about this TZ7 + underwater case. thanks alot.

How long can you film on L, H, and SH modes on 1 full battery? And any differences in quality noticable? Any good case for this camera?

You can take 40 - 60 min of video AVCHD? Lite max resolution, probably more on lower settings. Depending of temperature and use of zoom. I am going to buy a extra battery later. You can see some difference but H is still good. I use an small pocketsize case.

Just for the heck of it, maybe put a band-aid over the mic's to see if that shields the wind. That should still allow sound / speech to pass with padded portion of band-aid.

Hei. Jeg bare laster de opp med opplastings funksjonen her på youtube. Venter så ca. en halv time etter den er lastet opp og ser den i HD. Tar litt tid før den er etterbehandlet. Videoene mine er i AVCHD Lite format (mts).

Hi, there is a little sound during zoom, but not annoying. Its a very compact camera, so its difficult for the manufacturer to avoid that, maybe they could remove it electronically some day : ).

The focus works okay, haven't had any big problems with it. You can change some focus settings in menu (continuous focus off or on). I have it off.

Glasimo, you need to turn "WIND CUT" on in the setup menu to eliminate wind noise. Page #80 in the English PDF manual. ;)

I did that, but it was very windy up there. And the wind cut function can not remove all noise.
