They felt that the album she submitted would be like all her others ... and would not sell more than a few hundred thousand copies. Exclude the four Matrix songs from that album and the remaining songs sound like everything else she had done up to that time.

Honestly, she's got a terrible voice and this song isn't that great....but still yet there is something extremley cool about her and this video. It just really fits into that early/mid 90's grunge thing I guess.
She wasn't exactly a great singer, her voice has sure improved, but you can't say she is not a good songwriter...just check it out "Divorce Song", "Perfect World", "6'1", "Whip-Smart", "Polyester Bride", "Firewalker", "Table for One" and many others...she is really amazing

@peaceandus ur lucky! i was a baby the last 4 years and all i was listenin to was old mcdonald and other stuff.....i saw 100 greatest songs of the 90s on VH1 and my uncle helped me out with some other stuff before i saw that...so thats how i know of 90s music...and my parents helped me out with the beatles and full house helped me with the beach boys
