  • the album "Keep It Comin" consisted of outtakes recorded while they were still with P.I.R. Records, recorded in 1982. But album was released in 1984 though. Produced by Keni Burke.

  • Reply to drjeffamatrixx. 100% it's 1984, I HAVE THE ALBUM, 84 is my year. With ref to the drum machine, who says it has to be used in 1982? Music is fashion and things change and move on. PS; You spell 'Yourself' like that.

    from another epsom guy.

  • This song is so funky... wish I had been older when this came out. Going clubbing in this era must have been so cool!

  • Germany, Hamburg, St. Pauli, Reeperbahn, Top 10 (Disco) in the 80's -> AWESOME...THX!!

  • Funk Fans Check out FaceBook Group "Style & Class - Soul-Funk, Boogie & Disco"

  • this is soo goooood everytime i listen to it

  • Valorie unfortunately passed in 2001, she's wearing green (0:48), and you're right, she was so beautiful, as are her two other sisters in the group, R.I.P. Valorie Denise Jones (1956 - 2001) she the short one

  • How did Valorie die?

  • I am sure a form of cancer i will get back to you

  • Valorie Jones died on December 2, 2001 in Detroit at the age of 45.Still looking from what Iremember ov cancer somebody know

  • This is JUST what the doctor ordered and a real treat. Like so many toons from the era it just soars. Very much like Starpoint - It's all yours and many others. Brilliant..

  • good postin' vic!! great info too!!!

  • Thanks :)

  • Sounds like it could used for a Daft Punk song, lol...

  • This does sound a bit like one of Evelyn Champagne King's early joints.

I like how practically all the R&B female singers back then had that gospel "squawl" in their singing voice.

  • thats cuz most of them grew up in choirs lol

  • Sick song. Anyone know where i can find a download for this?

  • Send me your email

  • could I have a copy of this ? It's brilliant to hear again after over 20 year ...thanks !

  • @yoghurrt amazon.com look up the groupe and you will find it .one

  • its almost sound likes PYT. i still like it

  • SUPER CLASSIC FUNK

  • This song & this album CAN NOT BE from 1984. It's a mistake. 100% that it is from 1982. Clavinet (in another track from this album) and this Oberheim OBX sound was NOT used in 1984. And this kind of claps. So this should be 1982. Exactly the same Oberheim-sound is used in High Fashion's "You're the Winner (of My Heart)" from 1982. Check out for YASELF.

  • Are you sure??? Because I have the vinyl.

  • @victornewman06 you're right, it's from 1984, taken from the 'The Jones Girls' album, massive back in the day!!!! good post fella cheers

  • 82-83...they left Philly International in 1982.

    Sounds like Hubert Eaves(D-Train).

  • @drjeffamatrixx Absolutely from 1984, on Philly International.

  • @drjeffamatrixx was def. released in 1984 song writer Kenneth Burke. Maybe it was recorded earlier or simply used there equipment back from the dates to record the track. Peace...

  • @drjeffamatrixx I love "You're the Winner"!! That Oberheim is wicked sweet!!

  • @drjeffamatrixx it probably could've been released two years after it was recorded

  • Fantastic!

  • Bad Boy Grooves!!!

  • damn, this is so fukin brilliant!! D:

  • funk it

  • DETROIT FUNK ALL DAY!

  • classic 80's funk by the sisters...harmonies are tight as usual and they could float over any beat. this should have been a hit! along with another ballad they did that year "why you wanna do that to me?"

  • That's the song right there LOL. You know your music!!!!

  • No one could harmonize like the Jones girls. Do you have the song "knockin'"? Absolutely stunning track.

  • My fave track from them. Great sound - Loved this music back in the day and still do

    Great music never dies

  • that is my FAVORITE TRACK of the jones girls!!

  • keep it coming.....the coming back of funky music

  • this song is great

  • Music will never be the same like this!

  • And this is not just fun to listen to. This is a divine composition of frequencies targeted to the dance floors ... back in the days. Those guys were probably really passionate about what they were doing.

  • @morlock1972

Well said Morlock. Totally agree. Classic, beautiful music to listen and dance to. Perfectly constructed.

  • What a great track! Dance music was so much more fun to listen and dance to. I was 12 years and living in Germany during the cold war. This track kept me going on with a big smile even during cold winters and without friends enjoying the same music :-)

  • This is my favourite Jones Girls track, fantastic vocals and vocal harmonies,I love the instrumentation and when I heard it on Hereward Soul back in 1984 I didn't catch who it was by or what it was called and took me years to track it down, but I got it a few years ago and it is pure class from start to finish.

  • I remember hereward radio i used to listen to all the funk great staion back then.

  • The Jones Girls consisted of sisters Brenda, Valorie(died on December 2, 2001 in Detroit at the age of 45.) and Shirley Jones. They served as backup singers for Lou Rawls, They worked with Diana Ross from 1975-78 and were the backup singers on Linda Clifford's 1978 album If My Friends Could See Me Now.

Their biggest hit was "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else". The song broke the Billboard Magazine Top 40 at #38 in May 1979. The song was also a Top 5 R&B h

  • Thank you! This song is hot!

  • How talented these three sistas were not to mention sexy! I wuz feelin' their music video and song for "2 Win You Back" I wonder if they released a video for this song and "On Target" from 1983!

  • I don't think so, they may have made like a concert-type video for it. I will look into it.

  • Fantastic song Victor, I love these girls! The tightest harmonies you'll ever get in a soul/boogie track & your taste in music is damn good my friend! Please post more bro!

  • Appreciate the love!!!! I sure will!!!!!

  • Maybe you have the vinyl and it reads 1984, but I HEAR that it was recorded in 1982. Like Michael Jackson's Thriller, which was recorded late 1981 to mid 1982 and was released end of 1982, worlwide 1983. Even the Thriller video is from 1983. Peace, Jeff

  • Valorie was very good looking!
