I know exactly what you mean. I'm a transguy and am in your same boat. I think what a lot of people don't realize or understand though is that gender identity and gender expression are two completely different things. Just because your gender identity is simply male, doesn't mean you have to limit how you express yourself. You know who you are and thats all that matters.
really great video. so much of the stuff out here in internetland promotes only the black or white of gender, especially when talking about transitioning. it ends up being basically a narrative of going from one gender to the stereotype of another. thanks for promoting the gray area where people can be authentic about themselves.
i think gender IS fluid.. society just has a need to categorize things - girl/boy, hetero/homo.. then upon realizing not everyone fits into those categories, they make even more - bi, queer, intersex, middlesex, whatever. with strict guidlines for classification purposes - makeup -> girl, muscles and hair -> boy. How simply silly it all is.

when i came out as trans to my mom she made a comment about my eyeliner i basically told her to fuck off. and i shave my armpits too! i hate body hair in fact. not excited for my legs or face to be hairy, but it comes with the transition. i definitely call myself a "boi" or trans-guy but not really trans-man. i think, honestly, MAN is something you have to grow & mature into, you don't just get rights to the word because you want to establish your masculinity in the world, FTM or not...

it's like the difference between a masculine female and an effeminite male; a really fine, indefinite line. it's funny how a lot of people get confused when the lines are blurred. some people don't really see how fluid gender can be.

I never took T and I dress as woman to go to work, and more manly when I go out for fun. I lift weights too. I consider myself post-gender, all of those stuff that people hold as man/woman, well, doens't make a lot of sense if you think about it... we are actually in another level, when we can see beyond that stuff.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a transguy and am in your same boat. I think what a lot of people don't realize or understand though is that gender identity and gender expression are two completely different things. Just because your gender identity is simply male, doesn't mean you have to limit how you express yourself. You know who you are and thats all that matters.

really great video. so much of the stuff out here in internetland promotes only the black or white of gender, especially when talking about transitioning. it ends up being basically a narrative of going from one gender to the stereotype of another. thanks for promoting the gray area where people can be authentic about themselves.

i think gender IS fluid.. society just has a need to categorize things - girl/boy, hetero/homo.. then upon realizing not everyone fits into those categories, they make even more - bi, queer, intersex, middlesex, whatever. with strict guidlines for classification purposes - makeup -> girl, muscles and hair -> boy. How simply silly it all is.
i live androgynously. (and find it amusing that it pisses some people off)

Thank GOD. I thought I was the only one like that! Everyone thinks I'm not rlly trans and that i shouldnt transition... bcuz I wear makeup and I like guys... and I'm like sorry I'm not some macho man but i AM nontheless a man. I am pretty femme and I think on ur spectrum i would be about 65% most of the time. Although, I have to admit, I do enjoy dressing in lolita stuff and going out in a long curly wig :3 But thats just who I am and I'm freaking proud!

when i came out as trans to my mom she made a comment about my eyeliner i basically told her to fuck off. and i shave my armpits too! i hate body hair in fact. not excited for my legs or face to be hairy, but it comes with the transition. i definitely call myself a "boi" or trans-guy but not really trans-man. i think, honestly, MAN is something you have to grow & mature into, you don't just get rights to the word because you want to establish your masculinity in the world, FTM or not...

I love that you're sharing this, I identify in the grey area too, and I'm always so proud when people have the guts to stand up and talk about being gender queer - it's the only way we're ever going to broaden the worlds minds to the spectrum of gender rather than our current binary gender system.
One point though - do you really need to 'identify'? I get asked that question a lot, and what do i say? I say "I'm a person" and that should be enough for people to have some respect.

i dont think that i ever claimed to be a lesbian, everyone always forced that label on me. and yes girls have always treated me different. i am actually a straight [possibly Bi] guy trapped inside a bio-female body. i love that u rock ur makeup so hard lol my sister told me growing up i'd look a lot prettier with eyeliner on, of course now i call it "guy-liner" but i can't stop wearing it for more than a day or so at a time... i am either read as a very feminine guy or a super-masculine girl!!!

I know so many other people out there consider themselves genderqueer or something in between both.. but you are honestly the only guy on youtube that I have seen that's felt in between. Most are completely hardcore completely male. I knew if I ever did transition, I would still wear makeup and act and do some of the things you said you still do. I am so glad there is someone else. It makes me feel so much better. Now if only I had the guts and the resources to do all this.

finally! someone that agrees with me! thats how i feel as well. im in the "grey" area. when people question me and say that im not a real transguy because of the way i look, dress, act, etc. but gender is something merely what you personally identify as... and nobody cant tell you what you are... only yourself can. and like you said. fuck everyone else. just be yourself.

I never took T and I dress as woman to go to work, and more manly when I go out for fun. I lift weights too. I consider myself post-gender, all of those stuff that people hold as man/woman, well, doens't make a lot of sense if you think about it... we are actually in another level, when we can see beyond that stuff.

I'm a girl but have always been interested in doing the FTM thing... but I just never do. Too much money. Or too much effort. I'm OK in my body, I don't mind it too much.
