@BrucePetty Just kind of... roll the stick on one point between your index and middle finger. It's not really a twirl because the stick never actually rotates - it just looks like it does.

sounds nice but ur using the c01 to record ur floor tom? wat about the cymbals?

Cymbals are very loud and bright enough to be picked up with controlled bleed from the other microphones.

The c01 pointed toward the floor tom picked up the ride and 2nd crash. The snare mic picked up most of the hi-hat and the other tom mic picked out the other crash.

If you learn to use bleed as an aid rather than a hindrance, you can use it highly to your advantage.

yeah thats awesome. i have the c02s and they are well good for hi hats and everything and dont pick up any background noise. but they suck at recording toms and snare etc... Would you recomend the c01 at all just for recording the whole kit?

C01's are good, cheap and durable. I'd recommend them on a budget.

It's a little different from real drums (You might've seen a video on youtube somewhere) but if you can gravity-roll (which I can't) you'll be good on expert.

A gravity roll is letting the stick bounce up and down after you hit it once, so even though you've only brought your hand down once, it hits the pad twice.

i can do that and i am not that good fo a drummer. i play the tuba. its just the only thing i ever learned on drums.

Yeah well fair enough I'm getting used to it a bit more but it's still not the easiest thing to do if you get used to different styles of drumming, like i like to play relatively heavy rock.
