Ishahn from Emperor went the same direction with his image a looooong time ago and nobody complained because black metal was still pretty young and didn't have a set image just yet.

Black Metal is definitely about individualism, not conformity, but it is also about embracing darkness as it is. Satyricon still kicks ass. I just don't get the prettyboy look on Satyr.
