  • Fanastic, shame they don't get onto passenger trains anymore.....

  • My favourite diesel engine in Greece is ALCo.

  • The video is beautiful and the settlements adjacent to the rail road are also beautiful. The rail road crossings, the shunting yard, signals, etc. are pretty much similar to what we have in India. I enjoyed this 10 minutes video. Thanks

  • Hey Ronik24. Gr8 video that one. I see that diesel railways (at least goods trains) in Greece are a lot similar to that in India. The locos seem to be smaller versions of WDM2s/WDM3s/WDG3s...etc as all these are variants of pure alcos. Some others in India like WDM3-C/D, WDP4, WDG4 are EMDs similar to US diesel locos by GM. India has a wide gauge which is bit redundant, but conversion to standard gauge has a lot of economy crushing overhead. In addition to these India has wide variety of locos.

  • that's a good noise from about 3:30 to 4:30

  • 2:52 Kicking cars in Europe with a 251C-6...could be the PRR in Morrisville PA back in the early 1960's or the N&W at E. 55th St. in Cleveland...

  • Απορρώ πως άντεξαν οι παρακαμπτήριες και το τρίγωνο στη Σκύδρα. Εκεί κάποιες γραμμές πρέπει να είναι απο κατασκευής δικτύου (1869)

  • Very nice sounds, and good video.

  • tren otlakta geziniyo xD

  • Alco magic. Long live AOLCO

  • sounds like a steam engine, i like Sulzer's sond.

  • This is great true ALCO sound at it´s best

  • Is that an ice cream seller with his cart waiting at 8:20 as A-205 blocks the crossing?

    :P

  • Hi,

Yes, something like that, don't think it was ice cream...

    Greetings,

    Roni

  • 2:46 Is it turbocharged? Greetings from Greece!

  • Yes, it is.

  • @videocreatorgr All the locomotive diesel engines are turbocharged! The pulling weights are tremendus!

  • Excelente video

  • Wonderful diesel sounds. I like this very much

    regards from Portugal

  • Aural bliss, I miss that sound. Being from Western NY, I can still get a fix of that audio from a few short lines around but not often. The Apache railway in Arizone is nice Alco haven.

  • Does Greece have Meter Gauge tracks ?

the one at 2:45 looks like MG (as we in india use) to me ..i may be wrong tho

    a high revving one

    anyways great alco action

  • Hi,

Greece has a meter gauge network on the Peleponnes peninsula in the south and also ALCO classes for that (looking like a smaller WDM2), but these shown here are all standard gauge models.

    Greetings,

    Roni

  • Yes, around 960 kilometres of the total network are metric, in the south part of the country, but they are under replacement with a new electrified standard network.

  • The loco seems to be a YDM4, from its sound, the other WDM2. I think they have converted YDM4 to broad gauge for shunting. This is clear, as ronik24 mentioned that Greece had MG

  • Hi,

They may have the same origins, but all locos are definitely original, no rebuilds.

    Greetings,

    Roni

  • @ASUSfan08 Do you mean that these "guys" there were converted to run on Standard Gauge, but they were originally constructed for Meter Gauge?

  • SPAP ANWTERH

  • Just spectacular!!!

  • You cant beat an Alco - post some more!!

  • Nice alcos!!!!

  • what is that clicking sound ? illinois central r.r. had a few 636's back in the 1970's and you would hear the clicking sound before you heard anything else

  • I think (but I'm well prepared to be corrected) that the ticking sound is the safety valve on the air resovoir tank blowing off.

  • Air dryer.

  • Lots of hard-working, smoke-belching action in this one. Friendly engineers too.

    Love the sounds!

    thanks Roni...

  • Amazing, just amazing. Fly shunting and bucket loads of clag! It's okay I'm sitting down.

  • I was going to say in response to your other video that it was a pity you didn't manage to get some Alcos. Now I see that you did. This pleases me.

  • Instant Favorite!!!!!!!!!!!
