@cybersalad i mean, that they originated in japan. not saying that it was the exact same thing, it infact was a 40% dark chocolate bar that was sold in japan, that the name was "kitokato" because it meant "good luck". Nestle's brand came out later, but starting with milk chocolate. Im just stating that "kitokato" was what nestle probally (PROBALLY) got the name from. All that would take to make it kitkat, would to be taking out the o's in it.

Yeah. It's funny how Mr. Donut has been extinct as a brand in the US since the early '80s, but it's all over the place in Japan. It's nothing special though--I prefer the Dunkin' Donuts they have in Korea!

I confess: the main reason for me to go visit Japan is the food. I'm not a big fan of Japanese cuisine but combinis, bentos...game-themed snacks and sodas. Oh, man!! A heaven for those!!

Depending on where you're flying from, it's actually not that expensive! If you use a travel agent you can put together a nice trip package. I may go again this year, but I'm seeing where the Yen is. Usually it's about 110 yen to the dollar so things are relatively cheap. You could probably do a week trip with hotel + airfare $1500 or less.

Well I'm coming out of LA, so you probably have to add one more connecting flight to the price. I use kayak . com when I book international flights. Try searching on there. Right now the yen to dollar exchange is kind of crappy though. So I dunno when I'm going to go next.

It's basically like this thin cookie stick/dowel type thing where one end is dipped in a kind of flavored frosting/coating/candy. There are all different kinds--chocolate, pudding, banana, etc. Lots and lots of flavors. There's also something called PRETZ which is kind of the same thing but the cookie part is made of pretzel instead. (And they tend to have less candy-type flavors...salad, beer, roasted corn, etc.)
