The Detroit Free Press reporting was wrong on the issue, and nothing in the Humane Society Legislative Fund TV ad discusses his cosponsorship of bills. The ad clearly describes his voting record on four issues -- animal fighting, downed cattle, polar bear trophy hunting, and horse slaughter -- and includes dates and web site links to each of the votes on the screen. Joe Knollenberg voted against animal protection time and time again, and he couldn't hide from his long and embarrassing record.

It's a shame that the Michigan Humane Society doesn't support this ad by the Humane Society Legislative Fund. You can't really care about saving animals if you don't also care who writes the laws that affect animals.

Well, the Michigan Humane Society is a 501c3 nonprofit, which means they are prohibited from supporting or speaking out against any elected officials. Rep. Joe Knollenberg's claim that what the Humane Society Legislative Fund says is not reflective of the Michigan Humane Society is another one of his sleazey lies - Michigan Humane Society is not allowed to comment. Many Michigan Humane Society staff, members and volunteers can't wait for Knollenberg and his cruelty to be out of Congress.
