  • oh yea i'm using a dx6i...

  • my beast is stock, and i went to your link, and tryed to get flaps working , but when i did your steps the ailerons would go in different directions ?? do i need to open my beast up and change something ?? please help. :)

  • @fastestcararound

Hi, no, you don't need to open the plane. Read my posts that are listed at the beginning of this video.

Usually folks have problems if the TX is not set at stock settings, nothing reversed. You must follow the instructions exactly, nothing magic.

  • @RemE14MZ thanks, but i did exactly like your link showed.for the dx6i.. i.e the wing mix on dual ailerons, flaps on 35 % and flaps reversed and my ailerons still go in opposite directions??

  • @RemE14MZ ok !! i figured it out !! i was not doing step 1 with the dx6i.... when i tried that it worked :) thanks man !!:)

  • Nice flying! Just got one of these, hoping to maiden tomorrow.

Can you explain how your flaps work, and which Rx you're using? I have DX6i and was

trying to get the flaps to work, but couldn't.

    Thanks for the help

  • @jminors You need to change "modes" on the RX to put each aileron onto their own channel, the stock and the AR6400L that I used work the same. Then you set up the mixing of those two channels for flaperons using the TX mixers. I posted a link to my modification thread in RC groups in the description of this video.

  • Love your commentary with your flying

I just got one of these for my BDay and now looking forward to the first flight tomorrow

  • @brushless55 Good Luck, you will love it!

  • @RemE14MZ

    thank you!

I'm looking at getting some bigger lipos for mine

    like some Electrifly 300mah

and FlightPower 350's for more punch and longer flights

    only about $13-15 each

  • @brushless55 Make your own packs with Hyperion 240ma or 320ma's. I think the 240's are probably best for the stock Beast, you don't want it too heavy.

  • @RemE14MZ

Oh man! you reminded me that I have a pack of 5 new ones I've done nothing with

I setup 5 240mah for my SU-26XP and I could make some packs out of the others I've not used yet

just need to find the connector for the Beast??

  • I like all the work your doing going brushless.

But if you just loose the gear box and go direct drive using a Plantraco turbo prop you will get the same kind of speeds with a weight loose not gain.

And without haveing to spend on lots of $ on new gear.

  • @AVAMagneticlev Well, this model was already brushless and had no gearbox. I used a different motor, ESC, and ended up with more power AND less weight. The plantranco stuff is generally smaller brushed motors, direct drive. I don't like brushed motors at all.

  • @RemE14MZ Ive got the same setup on my beast, added a 7 amp motor with esc but im unable to mix my dx6i to get full power, slaving my gear to my throttle but no matter how i tweek the settings I cant get full power. Any advice? I dont want to add a new reciever.

  • @hyperlighter03 I'm not quite sure just what your setup is, are you saying that you have a 7A ESC connected to the open channel (5 I think) on the Stock Beast RX? Then using the TX Mix on the Gear channel to throttle to control it? Doesn't it allow you to set max throws for the channels via the TX, I'm thinking up to 120% to get the full range. Sorry I don't have that setup or a DX6 to try as I use JR and Futaba...

  • cool video, great article in the forum!

But it seems that I am too stupid to program the flaperons (have the dx8).

always get as result one rudder down the other up (so just aile function).

have tried with "normal" wing, "dual aile" and "flaperon").

can you give me a hint? (helis are well known to me, planes ... hmmm experienced beginner).

  • @derechtemisterbrain

Try looking in the Beast Mod thread on the forum, I don't have a dx8 but I posted links to some programming help there, and that's a good place to ask as well.

  • @RemE14MZ thanks. got it now ;) had forgotten to reprogram the receiver.

DX8 was done correctly. can't wait to test flaps and how/if the 3-blade prop is working on a standard Beast

  • I knew it would not be long before someone started modding the little beast.

I love mine just the way it is for now, but I can't leave things stock for long...

I really would like a bigger battery, for longer flights...

    Nice mods, nice video too....

  • I've always found on small planes like this that flaps only cause drag - they do bugger all useful.

    Great video though!

  • @sheldonholy

That's the point, drag, slow landings, slow vertical dives. On my Sukhoi 2Cell mod, they helped quite a bit actually. It's worth the few extra minutes of programming.

    Did you finish your F5?

  • @RemE14MZ Ok, cool. You remembered!!

Nah, never finished it unfortunately. Bit annoying, but i'm getting into FPV so that will mean i have no money for the next 2 years LOL.

    Sheldon

  • Bravo! Great job, and all the more impressive that you managed to improve what is such a nice plane in the first place.

  • Thanks for the video....Micro Mike

  • That's really a nice boost over stock
