  • so do you die if you cacth a crab?

  • Well 1st off idk its a cool machine and all but balance is an important factor in rowing. how do they practice that on this? which is why i find it a waste of time. theres really no point.

  • Looks good - can concentrate on technique, timing and feel, without having to "set the boat". I assume they were novices as they were rowing square - again a great way to introduce newbies to rowing and doing a tryout on dry land.

I wish they had one in NC to use.

  • @GraemeBoddy i very much doubt they are "newbies", Rowing square is done by all crews, doing it in all 8 is hard to achieve with perfect balance and no blades touching water, something that "newbies" could not do

  • the water is moving to simulate the boat moving through the water.

  • what a waste of energy,

  • this is a wierd looking kitchen.

  • @abijaabija LOLOLOLOLOL

  • shouldnt they be rowing against the water to get a better work out?

  • @karkrashful this was made to simulate a real rowing activity

  • HAVE YOU SEEN THE SWINGULATOR?

  • @rkelliher1 i have one at my boathouse...it is the most amazing machine ever

  • What's the point in rowing if the water moves by itself?

  • Pretty pointless considering its on a fixed slide

  • @tomsan91: The water moving simulates the boat moving over the water. In this case the water moves instead of the "boat".

  • @Timble3 But there is no boat to balance....

  • @tomsan91 I may, potentially, have replied to the wrong person. My apologies my good man/woman.

  • Imagine a boat like this with those crews :D

  • @bectes1995 they have 8 skulls...

  • pretty good but our tank has mirrors right in front which kinda helps ha !

  • Nope, on a national team actually...

  • I know a J15 squad that could do better than that...

  • @0okk nice work, your ability to point out imperfect technique is amazing. Though, you are supposed to be looking at the wicked cool rowing tank featuring the super duper moving water silly.

  • @farqattack I KNOW! My crew may actually get to use one soon :p

  • It's an awesome facility but from my time at rowing I can see that their tecnique isn't great ignoring the fact that the are rowing square blades

They're missing water at the catch and both strokes have little or no body rock

  • that's so cool

but that'd only be good for technique, there isn't really an accurate gauge on power is there

I guess it's worth it in a Washington where the climate can get colder (?) and it'd be ludicrous to go for a 5am row in winter

  • @jassono actually, you can row damn near all year out on the coast in washington. tanks like this are awesome for east coast/mid west crews though

  • what an incredible facility, but wonder if it is worth the imense cost!

  • cor, must be nice not having to balance it at all!!! I want one :P

  • how much did this cost?

  • Their not even rowing properly...

  • @TastyGenitals I would like to see how you row if you think that this is not rowing properly.

  • @spitboi7 Not turning/flipping your oar is proper rowing? I'd like to see you win a race like that... Be more observant next time.

  • @TastyGenitals That "flipping/turning" motion is called feathering Mr. Intelligent. Rowing on the square is a good drill.

You obviously do not row. Either that or you are a troll, probably both.

Their technique is pretty spot on from this video so if you don't know what you are talking about please, do us a favor and go back under your bridge.

  • @spitboi7 Lol ok there, trying to sound like a genius. Dont go crazy now lmfao.

    God you try so hard...

  • @TastyGenitals Hahaha fail whale! Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @spitboi7 Although you were right to reprimand that terrible troll, their technique is way off in this video. I won't even go into backsplash, blade heights, timing, or body technique..

  • @spitboi7 Are you on a recreation boat or something of the like?

  • I wonder how many boats they could have bought with the money used to install this tank?

  • awesome, but i must say i think a erg is also important!

  • as a rower i must ask whats the point of rowing with the current?

  • @Lurcher35

it simulates rowing in a moving boat.

  • oh yeah that makes a lot more sense now

  • to feel the back splash, you're moving the boat not the water

  • @Lurcher35 theyr practicing as if its in real water

  • simulates a moving boat

  • that is preetty badass
