Great to see a choreographer take on individual songs from this show, even if the choreography isn't very 60s-faithful. Lots of energy. PS I went to U-M long ago and took classes in the Dance Dept.--starting around the same time as subsequent dropout Madonna, though she would definitely have been taking higher-level classes as a dance major, so we probably crossed paths but might never have actually met.
The audience IS included in this song, but that aside, keep in mind this was a dance workshop, not a musical theater workshop. The main focus was the dancing, not how well the ensemble sang. U of M is awesome, I'm jealous.

What about freedom of speech? Why can't fluffypuppy42 give his constructive criticism and get -2? He's only trying to help. He's not saying inflammatory comments.
C'mon guys, save the -2's for someone who is being purely inflammatory and insulting. Don't just give minuses to people who are giving their opinion in a respectful manner. Even if you disagree, we should all still be allowed to speak.
P.S. I like U of M MT's Elegies and All Girl Band performances the best!
you guys took it way to slow and what happened to most of the ensemble. this song is suppose to be loud and lively and fun and your suppose to include the audience.
Thats how fast its supposed to go just lettin' you know.
And the audience isn't isn't included in this song. If the audience is included at all in the show, it's usually at the very end of the show during "Let The Sun Shine In"...
watch the 2009 tony award presentation for hair. it is a little faster and they are running through the audience and messing with peoples hair. (they include the audience a little)
Well, that's the Tony's. And it's also a Revival, meaning that they took liberties with the script and score so that it would capture people's attention like it did when it was first on Broadway in 1968.
@monkeysilly3 Actually, I went to go see Hair on Broadway, and the audience participation was constant throughout the show. During Hair, the cast came and messed up people's hair. During other songs, they gave out flowers and daisies. During the first few minutes of the show, Berger called a late audience member up on stage. Later, he put a man in a suit in an awkward situation. During intermission, I sat on the steps of the mezzanine with one of the tribe members.
@ForLoveLoveLove Yeah, I think what I meant (i obviously was not speaking very clearly to express my thoughts) is that people can take liberties with the show. Also, the audience has a lot to do with how much the actors can do to them. I know that the audience is messed with in Hair. I saw it on Broadway too and my friend and I got our hair messed with. I think the point i was trying to make was against the whole "your supposed to" thing. It's really a matter of opinoin in the end, I guess.
@monkeysilly3 my sister and my cousin saw the show together before it closed and there were people running through the audience at this point. yes they also did at the end after bows. they went on the stage and danced with the cast.

Its faster because all revivals speed up the music to try to appeal to the audience of the time.
