would the yfz b better for trails then the ltr because i love the mx track but where i live theres not alot of them so i need to know which is a better multitasker????? plz answer
@blahhhhh439 Both the YFZ and the YFZ-R are better trail machines than the LT-R in my honest opinion. The The Yamaha's suspension and power are better suited for trail riding, and with a set of tires and some adjusting, the YFZ-R is a great MX machine right from the factory. I'd have to say that if I were to be given my choice of ONE machine to do it all, I'd take the YFZ-R. Or wait a few more weeks to see what Yamaha has in store for 2012.
@fallenskater53197 It is Los Angeles County Raceway (LACR) in Palmdale, CA. Unfortunately it was closed down this summer after the landowners didn't want to renew their lease. Suckage!
@rc8rsracer I've heard of some people spitting cranks out of them, but that's primarily people who modify the hell out of them and keep bouncing them off the rev limiter all the time. That'll pretty much puke the crank out of any 4 stroke, so I don't see that as much of a "Yamaha" problem.
@rc8rsracer Yes, I've ridden the LTR a lot. In fact, it was my quad of choice. That is... until Yamaha released the the YFZ-R. The YFZ-R has broader power and better out-of-the-box suspension than the LTR.
@rc8rsracer Yamaha is the best mx, quad and snowmobile company in the world. They are building the reliabe machine on the market. If you want something that will start every day, day after day, buy a yamaha
@sledforpeace not snowmobiles that wou;d be ski doo and ktm owns quads but thanks man i cant say id argue with reliability although ive never owned one
@TechtodaProductions I woned a Yamaha Raptor 350 for 2 months, it was a 2006, it was completely stock, changed fluids regularly, and that thin broke more often than anything I've ever had. so i got rid of it and got a 2004 400ex, and the only thing i wanted to do was bore it out to get it freshened up brcause it was still on STOCK bore.
@max1994dude the 450 and 450r he is refering to is just different models of the yfz..i believe the 450ex you are refering to is a trx450r..only the 400 and down honda models are ex's
To be honest, I wasn't the world's biggest fan of the original YFZ 450, but I really like the 450R. It is much easier to move around on than the 450 was. As far as an out-of-the-box motocross ATV, its probably the best. The stock suspension on the 450R is very good and has a lot of room for improvement without having to buy aftermarket right away. Stock power is very good also and the GYTR power up goodies really bring the 450R to life.
Actually, that was pretty much a "test" run with the camera because we didn't know where it needed to be aimed for sure. As it turned out it was really good. If I'd have known I would have ridden a lot harder. Wish I'd have had the camera on with the GYTR model also.
The standard GoPro Motorsports HERO Wide camera retails for about $199 and is very good for that kind of money. The new HD model is around $100 more but films in HD and has some upgrades (memory, battery, exposure control) over the standard HERO.
Really good for stock suspension. I'm used to high end aftermarket suspension, and I still think the stock YFZ-R is very workable. A few clicks from the stock setting and I was pretty damned happy with it.
Do you know if LACR Race Track normally allows ATV's to ride, I tried to get ahold of them by phone and e-mail and never got any answer. I'll be in California from Feb 26th. to March 15th. to ride and would like to ride as many tracks as possible. I'm already schedule to ride Glen Helen, Pala and possibly Lake Elsinore (we're still waiting for the confirmation) Please let me know, thank you in advance!
Yes, its a really fun track that suits riders of pretty much any speed. Its a safe track for beginners and FAST for the more experienced riders. The track changes a lot from what I hear, but none of the jumps I saw were killers that wouldn't be safe for kids.
That was the stock bike in the video. Its pretty good for stock as far as power, but the mods make a huge difference of course. The GYTR bike makes MASSIVE midrange and plenty more on top. In fact, We're told the James Stewart uses the GYTR head and cam from the YFZ-R on his YZ450F.
Yup, bone stock. Even the suspension settings were as they come off the showroom floor. We rode the GYTR modified YFZ-R also, but I didn't helmet cam it. Wish I would have.
was that the full gytr setup? with the head, pipe and all the other crap? how big of a difference did the mods make? looks like the stock one was hauling ass.
Being a new model it will be a while before there are a ton of aftermarket parts. But GYTR (Yamaha's factory high-performance accessories) are excellent choices.
No offense, but that track looks boring
