Question. With all due respect to Volvo, and I like them considerably as they are good cars, but what brought me to watch this video was an ad saying 'Lexus' New Rival'
How does it rival the Lexus? becasue it has the same price tag as an IS250? Or BMW 320D or comparable C-Klasse and Audi A4? I admire Volvo's ambition, but they've always been some distance behind this pack. Safety and Reliability are hard to argue as differentiating points these days.
very possible! they are professional drivers, if he was alone i couldn't believe but he had another driver there just in case or sometimes telling the driver to turn or whatever . those guys are paid to drive so they know the circuit, a good racing driver memorize a circuit, so it is like their home, everyone can walk in their house blindfolded without getting hurt, because they live there and have been around many times and it isn't different at this test drive. i love it!
I recon before filming this you should've thought of how many people would "try this at home and at all". I wonder if there are any casualties already
@bfeary No we aren't encouraging anyone to drive blindfolded. For many people Volvo has a reputation as a conservative brand; however the range of vehicles are in reality very dynamic and exciting. Through this campaign we hoped to challenge people’s current perceptions of Volvo and open their minds to a brand that has added performance, handling, style and innovation to it’s already impeccable safety credentials
With a dynamic chassis delivering superior road handling and powerful new engines, it was important that the marketing campaign demonstrated how well the new S60 performs. We agree it is quite radical, and when developing this concept, safety was foremost in our minds, it was shot using two of the most skilled professional drivers in NZ and in tightly controlled conditions on a completely closed track.
@bfeary LOL it's just fun and games. Great way to promote a vehicle. You might have a case to take up with the BSA, if you think it's sending out the wrong idea ^_^
@blazianvid@arielatom03 Hi, we can assure you that Jonny Reid was blindfolded. In the video 'The Drive' in our channel, you'll see the Chief Executive Officer of Hampton Downs verifying the lap at the end.
@VolvoNZ personal , i dont judge if the test is real and i saw the previous R on Top Gear which prooved impresive , but despite the design which is one of the best i ever seen , i dont belive many people will buy these sport models , because Volvo build of reputation by making confortable , reliable and the safest cars
