The Doctor, the greatest villian the universe has ever known.
Ten regenerating really felt like a death because nothing was ever the same again. I like Eleven (and Amy, Rory, and River) a lot but they will never replace Ten and Rose to me.

In the classic series, something that new fans forget! it establishes that the doctor and all Timelords are the same through regeneration. It is describe like puberty, when you go through it you are different, act different, might have a different outlook but are still you. It is one being with 11 (so far) faces and crying for 1 doctor just weakens the show. I love them all, but it spoils it if you can't accept each for them and not freak out over one that leaves:) come on guys it will buff:)

@FinnRHarg At first, I felt like "Why does he have to go?! It's not fair. I need him!" But the more the show progressed the more I understand. It's a whole new era. We never see the characters from series 1-4 again. No Rose, Mickey, Jack, Donna. Its in the shows nature to go on and on, even when it feels terrible at first. When you go on you discover new things and adventures, and I'm very happy with Matt as the Doctor now :)

10 was my favourite-Davies knew how to get at people who felt the same sorts of feelings as loneliness as Tennants Doc...he knew how to show he had feelings, sadness, pathos and it was brilliant to see how old he was really and how tired he was, in a sense becoming 11 was what he needed but its sad all the same to me.

Poor him. Here he goes and saves the universe, and it rewards him with a lethal dose of radiation. Then again, he happened to crash into the garden of the perhaps only person in the universe who could save him from being erased from existence, but of course, he doesn't know that yet, he just feels very, very cheated. T~T He only allowed himself to shout and rage like that because in he never saw any option but saving Wilf.
You know . . . if they ever really did write a death scene for the Doctor (in a hellish alternate reality, obviously) . . . if they absolutely HAD to kill him for real . . . I think this ending would have worked. It's just hitting me now, but DT and RTD made one of the most beautifully tragic, perfectly bittersweet pieces of television ever. The way he goes out truly feels FINAL. I think that's why Matt Smith/Steven Moffat's series feels like such a rebirth.

I'm not trying to cause a fight, but according to the show they are different, not just their face and I'm not talking about the actors either, but within the show the doctor's are different. Like in "Christmas Invasion" the Doctor was an entirely different man and he knew that, he was trying to figure out what kind of man he was. Basically speaking it IS 11 different Doctors, but they all have the same memories that's the only thing that make them the same.

His brain is different. You know that last piece of glowy stuff that always comes out of the "new" Doctor's mouth at the end of a regeneration? That's the "essence" or "soul" of the last version of him, leaving. Some new man does indeed saunter away with his memories.

I'm not trying to cause a fight, but according to the show they are different, not just their face and I'm not talking about the actors either, but within the show the doctor's are different. Like in "Christmas Invasion" the Doctor was an entirely different man and he knew that, he was trying to figure out what kind of man he was. Basically speaking it IS 11 different Doctors, but they all have the same memories that's the only thing that make them the same.

@WixkedLovy i understand what you're trying to say dude but its the same man and with each regeneration he changes not only his face but his personality as well, haven't you noticed the gloom on his face whenever he had to make a hard choice and how he lived with his guilt whenever he did something of great consequence...that thing is the same no matter what face he has, if he was 11 different persons he wouldn't be the doctor any more but 11 different people with the title of "the doctor"

@JimmyColls if you were to meet with a younger or an older version of yourself i doubt you would get along with yourself, you know that saying "you can't live with yourself" believe me dude when i tell you the doctor is the same man though with different habbits each time he changes a face, just like you as you grow up you change both in behaviour and in the way you look ;) thats how i see the doctor

@warbossgrotsmasha23 Yeah...but also no. The process of regeneration involves completely re-generating each and every cell in the Timelord in question's body. This includes brain cells. His brain is different. You know that last piece of glowy stuff that always comes out of the "new" Doctor's mouth at the end of a regeneration? That's the "essence" or "soul" of the last version of him, leaving. Some new man does indeed saunter away with his memories.

@DirigiblePlumCompany the thing that comes out his mouth when he regenerates is residual regeneration energy not his "soul" :) the same stuff that allowed the 10th doctor to regenerate his hand after it got chopped off by that sycorax fella, his brain is the same (unless someone bashed his head with a bat or something) cause the same intelligence is in every one of his incarnations since the 9th one...dude the doctor is somebody that keeps on growing and changing ;))

@warbossgrotsmasha23 True, but as you can see with the changing scene between the 5th and 6th Doctors (as well as the others, but that scene most of all I think), his personality and quirks change. He retains his knowledge, his possessions, his memories... but becomes a different man.
