IMO it is not possible to do same music style again and again. Even it is the most successful one in the early 80ies. So I think it could be worser than going into industrial. I'm always hoping for more youth in the audience but there's rarely more than an handful. He's trying so hard to mimic Nine Inch Nails it's unreal. The difference is (whether you like NIN or not) that Trent Reznor is hard-working, creative and an utter perfectionist - he genuinely cares about what he puts out to his fans, live or otherwise. I do enjoy the new stuff, just would like to see him change things up a little. Numan has said that Jagged was a bit of a one trick poney (slow lead up to massive chorus) and that he would try not to repeat that formula for his next album. These first new songs seem to indicate that he his heading down the same path.

He was trying to create radio-friendly material (he's said so himself). Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), that did not work out for him. Kudos to him for recognizing that Machine and Soul was a utter piece of crap and for moving into a completely different direction.

I'm glad he's doing his own thing, and that he's doing what he is doing now! There are so many rock bands that go commercial and it sucks, and they stop putting everything they got into it. Gary does it for the music and his fans-we shouldnt be so critical of him. He's a great musician-better than most!

@DominionDayME Yeah, I've always loved the Berserker era also. I've often read that the look turned people off but I've never really understood that and I'm not sure if it is entirely true. Musically, it was also a very good album. I certainly preferred it to Warriors which, in my view, was very uneven. I'm also happy that he is doing what he likes now rather than try to be commercial. See, it looks like we are standing to agree now ;-).

In fact, I'd love to see Numan drop Cars, AFE and DITP for good. I quite enjoyed Jagged and this song is not bad, it's just not as heavy and dark as he thinks it is.
