In the last month I have had two Minnapolis police RUN STOP SIGNS when I had the right a way. MN 169.30 (b) "Stop AT the stop sign" and that is where I stopped both times, and then when I clearly had the right a way, by law, and was half way thourgh the intersection, both times, the MINNAPOLIS POLICE RAN THE STOP SIGNS. No, no lights, not even parking lights - They were not responding, just corrupt PIGS.. Then agin, I have only seen 4 police follow laws in the 3 years I've been here.
@cyclenut how do you know if they were responding or not you dont know anything........... this city is full of great cops who would put themselves down range of a gun for people they dont even know
thats one person he is talking about and this is quite stupid of you to be saying all of the minneapolis police think of the people they protect daily that way.... Next use common sense and don't be labeling people like this. This is quite pathetic.
Minneapolis cops are the best. I was skating one time and he rolled down his window and told me to have a nice day and to be careful. not to stop skating and get mad at me. it was awesome.
I am so proud with you that your dad is a very good cop. American citizens really need him and other police who are like him. But for a bad apple, we shouldn't let it send the bad smell to all the police department. It also send a wrong massage that killing people will exchange for a Medal.
we were in mineapolis for a week and we tried getting back to our hotel and asked an officer for directions...they gave us wrong ones and we were lost for 2 and a half hous at midnight
they didn't plant the gun my dad is a minneapolis cop and him and all of his partners are really nice people yes they are people they wouldn't need to plant a gun on someone who has that kind of background
My back pain would prove other wise... and NO i didnt resit AT ALL, they said get on the ground, i didnt wait i got right on the ground, they said "just stay relaxed like you are now." thats what i did when they were bringing my hands back into cuffs. Then the back up showed up & they said they didnt find the gun when he was walking up & he stomped on lower back 5 times. Then over the radio they found the guy with the gun 3 blocks away!
if you grew up on the southside you would know cops do this ALL the time & with out video, theirs pretty much nothing you can do. Cops are "shinng heros" until you can throw truth in the judges face & even with that they'll still deny it to the fullest. Like with the guy last year when he was jumped by like 6/7 cops the cheif said only the kicks were wrong but not the punching or tasing?
I have a few friends that are police officers and 1 close friend that is a federal police officer and I have never had a problem with the police at all, I'm not even a cop. Sure there may be some bullies in every police department but I am not worried about getting pulled over by them either. lol
every once in awhile one or two stop by my house just to say hi and talk for awhile if I'm in the garage working on my bike or something.
To TheResidentEvil0. You write below that your father is a cop in another town in minneapolis. Would that be Midtown, uptown or downtown. All are in mpls. Otherwise there are no other towns in mpls. Its a city itself..
Legally bicyclists in Minneapolis are allowed a lane of traffic (18 feet on each side) and if a driver has a problem with it, they can move. I'm a driver and I let the bicyclists have the room they need. I'm not about to run someody over just because they care about themselves and the world around them. I only drive because I'm lazy. And, it's not illegal to ride bikes in the street. Whoever told you that is mistaken. arni0202 is dead on.
Now, I am happy that there are some police officers who want to keep me safe, but for the most part, minneapolis police are worthless. My father is a police officer in another town in minneapolis so I know protocol. The police in minneapolis tend to be racist (this coming from a Caucasian), rude, and viscous. I have only met a handful of decent officers in town! They need to fix that problem.
I used to live in on that street, in the same building as paula. When this was going on I had already moved, but happened to be in the area to watch it all go down. Although when I first asked what was going on a few bystanders had said it was a shooting. Then I noticed a pile of bikes in the middle of the street. Some officers were driving their squad cars with another officer in the back seat with the door open ready to pounce. This year the cops dealt with the critical mass event...humanely.
lol "If you want to drive down Nicollet herd the assholes, anyone that's blocking anything arrest them." It's dangerous when cops can use that kind of bias and use their own discretion. He was basically saying arrest anyone biking. There's a big bike ride people do to piss everyone off. If you don't block the road, you don't get arrested pretty simple concept. I've never been arrested :P
im sayin, i always yell at bikers , and they always say "is it illegal to ride bikes in the street" and i say, if u go fukin 30 mph i wouldnt have a fukin problem, plus theres a fukin sidewalk....
right I should have specified it's illegal in areas like uptown/downtown(cops walking around will stop you and give you a nice little fine), and okay in residential type areas, but seriously the little curb ramps jostle you around so much when you ride up and down, I'd rather just be on a street anyways. but I'm on a stiff roadbike so yeah.
oh, so your one of those incompetent citizens that takes their rights for granted? Who do you think protects your rights? Yes, our government workers. I don't want this to turn into a nasty swearing match either. This is my last post
good , when there is bias of that nature by government workers put in place to protect people then they are incompetent and are making good cops that actually treat people with respect look bad.
Hey loop that video a few more times, why doncha? You can stretch 10 seconds of video into 5 minutes, youbetcha.

in mpls it's legal to ride on the street as long as your as near the curb as you safely can be. It's illegal to ride on the sidewalks in most areas
arni0202 3 years ago
Actually it's LEGAL in Minneapolis to ride on sidewalks in most areas except in heavy commercial zones or where explicitly posted.
