If I have to go to jury duty to avoid being anyone's bitch behind bars, I'd be glad to go. Beside my job gives me full pay so why should I really complain?
The concept is really stupid. They don't even know what type of people they're choosing. They could be unfit to be a juror.
I have jury duty tomorrow and I don't want to partake in it. I do not want to be responsible for what happens in someone else's life. My decision could be wrong or it could be right. I don't care, I don't want that kind of power.
Registering to vote has nothing to do with being sent a summons, The city were you live sends your name to the court system then you may be picked randomly from that data base.
"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." I don't see how jury duty doesn't violate this.
I had jury duty once. Thank God I became violently ill and was dismissed from service. I wasn't faking either, I literally was suffering. Thank God for my suffering at the time. I went home, puked my guts out and went to sleep!
Without it, nobody would volunteer, and convicted people wouldn't be able to get a fair jury of their peers. Go to Africa, see the criminal justice system, and see how good you have it.

I knew I wasn't going to get picked because I am a full time student and live on campus. There was no way I would miss class for jury duty, especially since college is not cheap. The judge seemed to have a hard time understanding this and told me that I should have called in and rescheduled haha. A few months later I was summoned again, but wrote a long ass complaint on the paper.
its a bluff!!!! just toss it out and don't respond too it they have to prove that you received it in the mail they can issue a bench warrant or fine you If you call in and see what date you have to show up then you don't show up! Then they can nail you!! If you didn't get it via certified mail they can't do jack shit and even that just don't sign for it. I now quite a few people that did this and never got anything.Jury Duty is not for everybody!!!!

Except I got summoned to a federal court which is 50 miles away and takes an hour to get there. Driving is the only way they reimburst you, but driving to SF in the morning is insane. They aren't going to reimburst my train fares. Fucking annoying.
