  • My favorite song ever.

  • I love this song by my pop. I think this was on of the groups best love songs they sang. RIP James and Harry!

  • @TheGooch67 James has passed. I know Harry and Kenny, but not James. He was the youngest.

  • The Futures were one of the best All time singing groups anywhere on the planet. If a group doesn't get a real promotional budget behind them it can delay their achievements and it did. Not to mention that two of the original singers passed on. However, one of the replacement forward leads became a Temptation singer. Tthe Futures performed with top acts in the world during their performance days and not one act wanted to follow the Futures performance. A truly Great group!

  • this takes me back when I used to c my oldheads singin on da corner

  • I used to sing the hell out this song when I was young.

  • Now that's what I'm talkin bout. norasa2

  • I played bass with this group in the late 70s, James King ypu were last working in Atlantic City, Hit me up on FB Wayne Morris

  • Totally Awesome!!!!!!

  • Being from Philly I remember this one, real nice. I think back then there were so many groups with a similar sound that it became easy to get sort of left out of the mix. Delfonics, Stylistics, Blue Magic, Chi-Lites and many others were all great groups and its amazing how their sounds still remain so relevant today as is evident by the amount of these classics that are being sampled. I am sooo glad that I grew up with this music.

  • I used to play this song on my piano! Loved this piece! What happened to The Futures after 1973? I'm fixing to go play this on my keyboard! The Future(s) is now! Lain out on the floor in amazement!

  • Our Wedding Song !!! Happy anniversary 'Netta, StonieDogStl.

  • VERY NICE LOVE MUSIC THAT BUILDS US UP. WE DONT NEED MUSIC THAT TELLS US TO KILL BLACK PEOPLE BUT THAT IS WHAT THE RECORD INDUSTRY PAYS BLACK ARTISTS TO DO,,,,,,SEKOU

  • I'V BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS SONG FOR YEARS,DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THE FUTURES. THIS WAS BLUE LIGHTS IN THE BASEMENT.MAN THIS WAS THE BOMB. PURE LOVE SONG

  • i picked up this 7" single for $1 a few days ago.

the Philly sound RULES, even today!!

  • Simply Beautiful!!!

  • This is how we do it in Philly. We bring you the soul!!!!!!!!

  • this was the last group I seen at the Uptown.

  • LOVE THIS SONG. ONE OF THE BEST.

  • LOVE THIS SONG.

  • LOVE IS STILL HERE.

  • The Futures were as good as or better than all the Philly groups. There was a fallout

between the group and Gamble and Huff. They were under contract and they were put on ice. That's the facts. Yea even the Blue Notes. There were alot of groups in Philly this is the group no one wanted to compete with. Their Live sound was incredible. For all you musicians out there: The band used Black beauty Les Pauls, Vox tear drop Bass and a Portable Hammond Organ. Shure Vocal Master PA. System.

  • This song can bring tears to your eyes. I remember when this song came out. I was in the 4th or 5th grade and my aunts and uncles always had the latest music playing. I can smell what the weather was like when this song came out. Brings back so many memories. Days of innocense and beauty. Miss those days.

  • just look at the number of hits to this site, ( the Hypnotics have more hits, & I don't even know who they are either ) the delfonics & stylistics could sing the same songs so who would you push pick one? these guys can really sing no doubt, but second place is never far enough or wide enough to matter. Do like this song that I never heard before.a lot. U know even motown had great groups that they just didn't or couldn't put their full support behind.

  • They were very popular here in Philly. Don't understand why they never caught on nationally...

  • Don't know how I miss this one from 73'" have most other sweet ballads," great song," I think this group just got squeezed out. Top producers can only support so many groups before material & promotional support starts thinning.

  • A classic Philly group. We had so many of them. Back then Ron Tyson from the Temptations sang in a group called the Love Commitee( The Ethics)

  • Love this song!

  • i play this all the time in my car!! i love this song, it reminds me of better times u know?

  • @rochellelevine Yes I do know!

  • This group should be on UNSUNG! This is one of the best 70's jam's of all times.

  • I have been looking for this, but couldn't remember the name of the group !

THIS IS IT !! Thanks for the post.

  • I learned something today! had no Idea ! that Harry was from this group! and the Temptations picked him up! WOW!~GREAT STUFF!~~ The futures! these boys could Blow!!~and this will always be one of my favorites~~

  • YES ME AND MY FIRST LUV, SONG THIS JAM

  • rest in peace mr.bass harry mcgilberry. the futures and the temptations.

  • another great sound of philly.kind of sounds like the moments or blue magic.has sort of a stylistics sound with the music .

  • just beautiful.

  • SUPERBADDDDDD!!!!

  • these guys are talented one of the greatest voices that were out there. They were all very talented.Just one problem timing and exposure.I call it the heat wave sydrome.

  • @dareenwhoo12 I think the Futures made the wrong career move when the Gamble label folded. Instead of signing with Gamble & Huff's Philly International label, they signed with Buddah, and the songs they released on that label flopped. They eventually signed with Philly Inetrnational in 1978, but it was too little too late by then.

  • @Meridian83West Thanks for that info that dose explan it. The first time i heard the song Love Is Here it was about1989 omg i was blown away by that tenor because i also sang tenor. That same day i heard Ron Tyson with the Temps sing Sail Away just as good man,and there went the ceiling again.

  • Was just the bomb back in the day.

  • This is a class slow jam. Thanks for bringing back good memories.

  • beautiful song....great group. Thanks for posting!!

  • I miss you Harry McGilberry - you will aways be in my heart

  • @seperki56 I didn't know Harry McGilberry had died. Otis Williams brought Harry in to do sessions with the Temptations (and he eventually became a Temptation) when Melvin Franklin became too sick to record. He was certainly one of the best bass singers around. You can hear that on this song.

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND LISTEN TO MUSIC THE WAY IT USED TO BE. WHAT A VOICE! WOW WISH WE COULD GO BACK IN TIME!

  • My late cousin Kenny Crew had a talent that was not appreciated.People slept on The Futures.I have nothing but good memories of my cousin he was such a good person.RIP Kenny Love YOU and Miss u so much..

  • @walkerleah - sorry to hear Kenny passed. When I was a kid , he dated a girl across the street from me. He was my Hero and I tried to sing like him. In those days I could get close:-) Miss those guys!

  • @ theintruder42, I agree the tenor in this group was one of the best, and the rest of the group could blow too!!!

  • i have always loved this song

  • i have always loved this song. i was 14 when it came out. a total classic

  • I thought this guy had one of the best tenor voices of 1973, but they just didn't catch on. Wonder why? Too bad.

  • I totally agree. As talented as this group is, it's amazing how the Futures weren't ever categorized as "mainstream" or even given the chance to become a household name!

  • @theintruder42 i agree so sad ,almost like someone never finding that lost love

  • This used to be the slowdrag burner back in the day. Turn on the red light in the basement and grid with a fine honey till both of your backs hurt !!!

  • @stillickin2 YES, YES, YES

  • beautiful, pure soul....5****'s.

  • Clean jam homie!

  • Thanx carnal!
