her dancing is absolutely mesmerizing. i could not tear my eyes away from her. she not only is an spectacular dancer but she also is a very believable actress. she is as close as you can get to perfect.
The joy of great dance, music and story combine in Ashton’s Cinderella, a fairytale rooted in a magical brilliance and great charm. Everything comes together for a perfect Easter treat with The Royal Ballet:
Music of my youth: Prokofiev's Cinderella with choreography by The Royal Ballet's Sir Fredrick Ashton (who also appears as one of the stepsisters) and Margot Fonteyn as Cinderella. Notably, Kenneth MacMillan appears in this production as the second, "bossy" stepsister. MacMillan later choreographed the Royal Ballet's stunning and world-famous production of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet, my favorite ballet.
Ah, the INCOMPARABLE Margot Fonteyn...I didn't know she danced until she was 65 !!! GASP !!! Many Dancers are ending their careers in heir early 40's ... HOW SENSATIONAL !!! Sigh ! Look at THAT FACE !!!...
The whole world didn't shut up about her, not even until this day. She's that beautiful! I love her! I wish I could have seen her live because I was told that she could just make you cry. I believe it.
to SonyaNatalia-you are entitled to your opinion albeit coming from the mouth of a she-devil. Dame Margot danced like no other-she was full of light onstage. So mesmerising that Nureyev said that when she left the stage in her great white tutu he would have followed her to the end of the world. Together they rocked the world of ballet so great was the onstage artistry. Just what are your credentials that you have opined in such a vile manner?
TO Waffle house-you don't say, Sherlock. It does not take a lawyer from Philadelphia to note the cracking thought -provoking one liners from the general viewers.
I don't know shit about ballet. Dated a dancer in high school a decade ago, and one in italy a few years back. Sad to say, I still after all that, after the practicing and the feigning I had a f-ing clue what they were talking about or showing me, after the countless salads at dinner and bottles after bottle of water...I still don't know shit. And that depresses me. So I will simply find humor in the announcer choking on his cigarette smoke and coughing :18 in.
It's laughable to read the assine comments of an obvious ballet illiterate.I have never heard of Mr.B making that "spoon feet" remark, If he did make it, no doubt it was playful and after consuming a large amount of Vodka.
Actually, Mr. b was criticizing the way she held her hands - saying she held them like "spoons" (fingers stuck together). it was actually Sir Ashton who referred to her feet as "little pats of butter" (in a derogatory manner).
What I love about her is her joy in dancing. Its infectious. When I watch her dance it makes me want to get up and dance. She had such a happiness in her movement.
can u imagine? Spoon feet and still such a great ballerina!!!Perhaps u have beautifull feet , really good extensions, a great body... but it took you nowhere...

I had the joy of watching her dance towards the end of her career when I was about five or six in Swan Lake at Covent Garden.
I don't remember a vast amount but I remember being in absolute awe of her. She is still, to this day, my number one female dancer.

unfortunately, it was for financial reasons - she needed the money

I wonder if it truly was financial or if this is a 'romantic' tragedienne?

Never a hint of stiffness or obvious technique for technique's sake. All fluidity and light. A most rare ballerina.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Embarrassing acting, horrendous feet, and a prematurely aged face.
And yet the Brits still won't shut up about her.

if you cannot comprehend the beauty of Dame Margot Fonteyn, that is only your loss and there is no need to insult her!

She was really a great actress too - she used the steps to express the character, so that she seemed to be speaking her own language when she danced.
