When i heard mr. brightside and sex on fire for the first time, i predicted the killers and kings of leon respectively would blow up and become huge in the mainstream...it thought the same of manchester orchestra with this song. Although it brought them moderate success, they never hit it big on a mainstream level...thankfully!!!
@mikeb01904 what do you mean "thankfully?" are you afraid that this "secret" of a band would leak out? if these guys hit mainstream then they wouldn't cool anymore? wouldn't you rather have these guys be mainstream than justin bieber? if they hit mainstream they wouldn't be "sell outs." selling out is when you play the music you're told to make, not the music you want to make. so if these guys hit mainstream what would that do? it would show that society really likes good music after all.
@iWillBmx Their new drummer is Tim Very. The drummer in this video, Jeremiah Edmond, left the band to run their record label, Favorite Gentlemen. The band and label both got too big for him to do both.
@rockerMan0987 apparantley Bieber's work is directed at a much larger set of people. i deon't understand how everybody doesn't like this, but they simply don't
Dude, just saw them in minneapolis..they are fucking amazing....holly shit! best concert i have been to...if anyone was there that night....who were the other groups there...i dont know the name of the scotish group there and the guys after them. if you know..let me know.

Any idea how they're getting that quick "whap" sound out of the bass drum?
is there some padding up against it? i love how brief it is.

@StingChameleonREMIX Probably threw a blanket or a pillow in there. That's how most people do their kick, anyway.

@jackgoldstein94 Ok. That's what I'm thinking too, I'm new to the recording process =P

@StingChameleonREMIX
Hey. What your hearing is not the raw sound.
That kick is definately the product of compression and mic techniques.
To get a raw sound that is similar to that (what I do anyways)
is to put a pillow in there (as someone suggested (or a blanket))
and also dampen, or depress the skins to taste.
Cheers brother!
