nice vid, i am new to building pcs and im just about to start building my first rig but im not sure what power supply i need? what amount of watts will i need? does it matter? or does it depend on how many other things im running off my motherboard? my motherboard is:
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H

Hmmm... the way you're building it doesn't look too difficult. I haven't ever built a desktop myself so i consider it pretty difficult. But i'm sure that if i try and get used to it sometime, it will be easy. A powerful gaming desktop PC with XP OS would be kickass!
@Blitzboy008 It's an antistatic wristband. Static electricity in your body can damage electronic components. The wristband prevents it from building up in your body.
I think it's a great hobby building computers! I'm onto bulding another computer but a cheap and near old one... Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, 2Gig ram, onboard graphics card... Desktop case...
Hey does anyone know if desktop cases are ok for overclocking environments with heat? Or is a tower better?
I have a question, if a laptops graphic card isn't good, can we connect that to a desktop (Which inside it is a graphics card with a other mother board) will this work?
yea.... i get that, just imagin that we made a destop with no monitor, and inside that we have all the top stuff including graphic card, can we connect that to the laptop and play games with the laptop connected to the desktop
I beliive that it can be done, but thats a bit over my head. It involves more than just plugging it in. You would probably need to open up your laptop and modify the video connector.
hmmmm... thanks, oh one more questions do you think an external graphics drive will be developed anytime soon? (External graphics card is like a hard-drive but instead of a storage system it's a graphic card in the machine)
the only problem am having u know those cables that come from the front of the case the ones that are small ans u were conecting at 5:58 ib the video will u tell me the order those go in? tanks loved the video
Sometimes connecting the front panel wires are a practice in trial and error(unless your motherboard came with good documentation). The connectors are a set of pins marked panel1 or fpanel or something similar. Within these pins are pwr_btn(or pwr_sw),reset_sw,p_led and hdd_led. You front panel wires should be marked similarly, except the led leads are marked +and -. As long as the pwr_sw is connected, The computer will work. But you will probably will have to guess with the led's
If you have cable or DSL internet service, you don't really need the modem. But if you want to send faxes from you computer, you will need a modem. Also, if your cable or DSL go out, you may want to have a dial-up service as a backup.
Video card?
captainjack97 1 month ago
@captainjack97 It's a cheap motherboard, no AGP or PCI express slot. Just using onboard video.

It's not a gaming PC. It's just a low-end machine for demo purposes.

I would imagine that a tower would provide better air flow

The graphics casrd must be the same form factor as the slot in the motherboard, such as AGP, PCI express,,,

Like a USB graphics processor? USB isn't fast enough for that.

@Lightningeye The Vidock 2 is an external GPU

@Lightningeye no, unfortunately it won't work.

what about graphics card? can you just plug in to a monitor with the graphics card instead of the motherboard?
SnipesWithWolves 2 years ago
motherboard must have a slot for a graphics card, either AGP(older technology), or PCI express,

There are many who feel that the wristband and mat are unnecessary.

Thanks for the guide, I wonder if I need the modem if I have the onboard LAN on the mobo...
